TE Jackson Accuardi Signs with West Virginia
With the signing of Jackson Accuardi, West Virginia has its tight end for the 2025 recruiting class.
Height: 6’7″ Weight: 250
Hometown: DeForest, Wisconsin
School: DeForest
Central Michigan, Colorado, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Michigan State, Missouri, West Virginia.
Accuardi has the size to play early on but needs to develop the blocking aspect of his game to have a shot at playing in 2025. As far as the receiving aspect, he’s ahead of most tight ends that West Virginia has brought into the fold over the last few years. His route tree is pretty extensive, and he can comfortably line up outside and win against corners in man coverage. It will probably take a few years before he gets heavily in the tight end rotation, but there’s a lot to like here.

Mountaineers in the Pros: Week 13
Mountaineers in the Pros: Week 13
Week 13 of the NFL season came and went this weekend and with that came many important matchups featuring former Mountaineers.
Geno Smith
Smith returned to the team that drafted him facing off against the New York Jets this past Sunday. Smith would get the last laugh, as he led the Seahawks to a comeback win.
Smith passed for 206 yards and a touchdown as the Seahawks scored 19 straight points to end the game, as the Seahawks are still in first place in the NFC West by a game. Seattle faces the Arizona Cardinals in a big-time divisional showdown on Sunday.
Rasul Douglas
Douglas and the Bills won the AFC East this past week as they beat up on the San Francisco 49ers.
Douglas had five total tackles, along with a TFL. Douglas played all 48 snaps the Bills had on defense this past week. They head out west to face the Los Angeles Rams this week.
Beanie Bishop and Zach Frazier
The Steelers played another divisional rival this week, as they faced off against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers won the game 44-38, improving to 9-3 on the season.
Frazier continues to impress as a rookie, as he had the second-highest pass blocking grade per PFF on the Steelers this week. He has an overall grade of 77.7 this season. Among rookie offensive linemen, Frazier has the third-best grade in the NFL and has the best run blocking grade in 2024.
Bishop played only six snaps on defense this week, finishing with two total tackles. The Steelers face the Browns at home this week.
Colton McKivitz
Colton McKivitz and the 49ers were handled by the Bills, losing 35-10. The 49ers continue to be hit hard by the injury bug, and their record is reflective of that, as they are 5-7. McKivitz finished the game with a 76.6 pass blocking grade, per PFF, playing 48 total snaps.
The 49ers play the Bears this Sunday.
David Long Jr.
Long Jr. was once against active for the Detroit Lions but he only registered 12 total snaps on defense. He finished the game with two total tackles.
The 11-1 Lions have a big game against the Green Bay Packers this week on Thursday night.
Bye Weeks
Dante Stills and Kyzir White of the Arizona Cardinals were on bye this week. They face the Seahawks this Sunday.

Ski season to open at two mountain state resorts – WV MetroNews
SNOWSHOE, W.Va.—- Ski season in the mountain state is getting ready to begin with two resorts opening Thursday morning.
WV Ski Area Association’s Joe Stevens says that the season will open early for Snowshoe and Timberline.
“They’re going to be dropping the ropes at 9 o’clock and getting the season underway,” Stevens said Tuesday on Talkline with Hoppy Kercheval.
The first snowfall of the season came last week, and Stevens said that it helped with two things.
“It did a couple of things, first off it got people thinking about winter, they stopped cutting the grass and they started getting their skis and snowboards ready, because they can see on the webcams, the snowing and the snowmaking going on at the resort, so it really amped up the anticipation of the season coming,” Stevens said. “But what it also did is it cooled off the ground.”
The snow that they received allowed the snowmakers to make the snow because the snow machines require a temperature below 28 degrees.
He says while some skiers will be from the mountain state, the majority will come from one major state.
“Well, this time of year when we’re getting into the holiday season, a lot of them with be coming from Florida,” he said. “And a lot of times it will be the first snow they’ve actually ever seen.”
However, he also mentioned that they’ll see people come in from Washington D.C., Virginia and North Carolina.
And more resorts will be opening their season later in December, with Winterplace in Raleigh County opening the 14th and Canaan Valley in Tucker County opening the 21st.

WV Parkways Authority says Turnpike travelers exceeded expectations for Thanksgiving week – WV MetroNews
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Numbers released by the West Virginia Parkways Authority Tuesday show the West Virginia Turnpike exceeded expectations throughout the busy Thanksgiving week.
The Parkways Authority say that the total number of transactions was 754,405, nearly 40,000 more than the 715,000 transactions expected, which still would have been the busiest week of the year.
Wednesday, November 27, and Sunday, December 1, finished as the busiest days of the week on the Turnpike, as the two accounted for over 55% of the Thanksgiving week transactions.
As expected, the least traveled day of the week was Thanksgiving Day on Thursday. Despite being the lowest of the week, Thursday saw 67,724 transactions, which was around 200 more than expected.
Right before the holiday rush, a Pay by Plate option was introduced for the Turnpike, which allowed motorists to drive through the EZ Pass Lane and have their plate scanned. They could then go back and pay the toll on the Turnpike’s website.
West Virginia Parkways Authority Executive Director Jeff Miller says the new system was vital for the most hectic travel week of the year.
“We had more travel than was expected, which is a great thing, and we pushed cars through the toll facilities better than we have ever done in the past, and all thanks to our new tolling system,” Miller said.
Those who utilized the Toll by Plate option will have 30 days from the date to pay the toll.
