The No. 11 Arkansas men’s golf team shot a final-round even-par 284 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for third at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial hosted by the University of Virginia.
The Razorbacks’ final round was sparked by a 67 from senior Jacob Skov Olesen on the 7,116-yard, par-71 Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Va. Olesen’s five-birdie round put him at 4 under for the tournament and tied for seventh place. Arkansas senior John Driscoll carried the same score into his final hole before a double bogey dropped him back to 72 for the day and 2-under for the tourney and tied for 10th.
Tennessee ran away with the team title at 27 under, 12 shots better than Florida State, which closed with a 9-under round.
The Razorbacks tied with North Florida and Northwestern for third at 1 over, followed by host Virginia (5 over), the Cavailiers’ B team (10 over), Toledo (11 over), Clemson (12 over) and Texas State (14 over) in the top 10.
Arkansas senior Christian Castillo shot a 1 over Tuesday and tied for 39th with teammates in junior Manuel Lozada and freshman Thomas Curry. Lozada shot a 75 on Tuesday and Curry had a 73.
Arkansas sophomore John Daly II, playing as an individual, birdied three of his last four holes and shot 72 to finish in a tie for 51st.
Florida State’s Luke Clanton won medalist honors with a 64, the best of the tournament, on Tuesday to shoot 15 under, five shots clear of Tennessee’s Bryce Lewis.
The Razorbacks are back in action April 24 at the SEC Championships at St. Simons Island, Ga.
