After being pushed to the brink by FC Dallas and surviving a penalty shootout to make it to the last eight of Leagues Cup, Inter Miami were able to survive adversity and advance, with the help of another two goals from Lionel Messi, of course. But while Messi has been excellent, in each match his supporting cast has helped too as 18-year-old Benjamin Cremaschi was able to score a goal and the shootout-deciding penalty now giving Miami a shot at Charlotte FC.

Able to overturn a second-half deficit against the Houston Dynamo, Charlotte are a team that have been able to score with ease and press against their opposition which could give Miami some issues in the match. With how the midfield performed against Dallas, Tata Martino is expected to make adjustments and those will be critical to how Miami responds to teams gaining more tape on them.

Stopping Messi is certainly a challenge for any team but if opponents can exploit the midfield to stop service to Messi, that’s where there is room to prey on the weak defense of the Herons.

Storylines

Inter Miami: It could be time for Martino to roll out a back three to unleash Jordi Alba. With Alba not defending much, it created space that Dallas could exploit when Kamal Miller stepped forward but the Herons can compensate for that by adding another defender into the mix. This could also allow Sergio Busquets more time on the ball while helping set up the Miami attack. Leonardo Campana is another player who could find themselves in the lineup after a strong appearance from the bench spelling Josef Martinez. Despite getting service from Messi, Martinez has struggled in Leagues Cup and could do with a game or two coming off of the bench.

Charlotte FC: Looking at what Dallas were able to do, Charlotte will be able to give Miami pressure in the game but it’s hard to tell if that alone will be enough from stopping the Herons from scoring four goals. When the best performance against Miami still saw the Herons advance it can make teams wonder how Messi can be stopped. The short answer is that he can’t be but Miami can’t defend Karol Swiderski either. If Charlotte can keep the pressure up, this is a winnable match.

Prediction

Another game and more goals from Messi as Inter Miami win another thrilling match. Pick: Inter Miami 4, Charlotte FC 2

MIAMI – An arrest has been made after a deadly shooting outside a Miami Beach club early Sunday morning.

It happened just before 2:30 a.m. at the Exchange South Beach at 1532 Washington Avenue.

Dvonn Reaux, 28, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Marley Case.

Magazine said he took Sunday morning’s shooting personally.

“The heart of our city,” Magazine said. “On a Sunday. Mother’s Day. It’s likely that there’s a mom waking up, now without her son.”

People who saw and heard the chaos unfold were disturbed by it.

“We heard shots and that was it,” said Levi Fuller. “And all of a sudden people started running.”

“Very worried. Very worried for us workers around here,” said Maria Hernandez.

Magazine said he’s concerned about what kinds of crowds are coming to the busy strip on South Beach.

“We’re a city of law and order but we need to examine some of these commercial venues that are bringing an element that is not conducive with our city.”

Loved ones ID 15-year-old girl killed in Key Biscayne waterskiing crash amid search for boater – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports | Fort Lauderdale

KEY BISCAYNE, FLA. (WSVN) – New details continue to emerge about a horrific crash on the water near Key Biscayne that claimed the life of a 15-year-old girl, as authorities continue their search for the boat driver responsible.

Loved ones on Sunday identified the victim in Saturday afternoon’s crash near Nixon Beach as Ella Adler.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the teen was struck and killed while waterskiing.

“She was wearing a life vest, as well as the ski boards on her feet,” said FWC spokesperson George Reynaud.

The 15-year-old was celebrating a friend’s birthday on a family boat at the time of the crash.

“A lot of blood in the water,” a first responder said in radio transmissions.

The search continued Sunday for the boater who never stopped.

FWC officers said the boat that hit Adler was last seen leaving from traveling westbound from Nixon Beach in Key Biscayne.

“It’s going to be a white to light blue [vessel] in color, with blue or dark blue bottom paint, as well as two wide board engines, but it could be up to four wide board engines based on different witness reports,” said Reynaud.

Family members described Ella as graceful and loving. She was a ballerina with the Miami City Ballet, as well as a dedicated student at Ransom Everglades School who was proud to be Jewish.

A spokesperson for Ransom Everglades released a statement that reads in part:

“She was a wonderful dancer, served on the speech and debate team, and was a member of the Jewish Student Association. She was a treasured friend to many.”

Authorities said there is a total reward of up to $20,000 for information about the boater and vessel involved in the crash, including $5,000 from Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers.

If you have any information on this hit-and-run or the boater’s whereabouts, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward. You may also contact FWC’s Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922.
