BALTIMORE — The Maryland Zoo is honoring its first African-American feminine zookeeper by selling range via an internship, in response to zoo employees.

The five-week internship is a paid program, zoo employees mentioned. It honors Mary Wilson who’s a senior zookeeper.

The internship can be awarded to “a neighborhood black, indigenous, or particular person of colour (BIPOC) faculty pupil with a ardour for animals and an curiosity in zookeeping,” zoo employees mentioned in an Instagram publish.

The intern “may have the chance to take part in immersive experiences within the animal, hospital, or commissary departments,” in response to zoo employees.

That have will present the intern with “distinctive perception” into the zoo world, zoo employees mentioned.
