One of the difficult duties that Georgia Tech could have within the 2023 season is changing star linebackers Ace Eley and Charlie Thomas. Each linebackers have been leaders and had over 100 tackles for the Yellow Jackets’ protection, however they’re out of eligibility.
So how will Georgia Tech change each linebackers?
Brent Key and his employees did a stable job on signing day of including expertise to the place, particularly within the switch portal. With Eley and Thomas going, expertise was going to be wanted and except for Trenilyas Tatum, most of Georgia Tech’s linebackers lack expertise.

Braelen Oliver, who performed his highschool soccer within the state of Georgia earlier than going to play at Minnesota, is one in every of two switch linebackers that dedicated to Georgia Tech. For his profession, Oliver has amassed 79 tackles, three go deflections, 3.5 sacks, and one pressured fumble. I absolutely anticipate Oliver to problem for one of many beginning spots which have been vacated by Eley and Thomas. Not solely are they leaving, however Demetrius Knight II transferred to Charlotte.
The opposite linebacker addition that Georgia Tech made was Texas A&M’s Andre White. Throughout his profession in Faculty Station, White tallied up 61 tackles, six go deflections, one pressured fumble, and an interception. He was a four-star recruit within the 2019 class.
By way of highschool gamers which have signed with Georgia Tech, the Yellow Jackets signed two, however one is probably going shifting to defensive again. Taye Seymore (South Atlanta, GA) is listed as a linebacker, however will doubtless be shifting to a different place on protection. Seymore was a signing day addition for Georgia Tech and needs to be an affect participant regardless of the place.

The opposite linebacker that signed with Georgia Tech is Ashton Heflin (Newnan, GA) and he has the expertise to be a tackling machine on protection and an all-around stable linebacker with the fitting improvement and training. Make sure to regulate Heflin.
Getting Oliver and White goes to be enormous for subsequent 12 months. Each gamers will convey expertise and management to the place whereas the opposite linebackers develop.
So who’re the opposite guys to regulate?
Tatum is the plain candidate to get critical enjoying time. Even when he doesn’t begin, you possibly can anticipate Tatum to think about closely to the rotation. Different guys to vie for taking part in time might be Tyson Meiguez, Khatavian Franks, and Kyle Efford. It will likely be attention-grabbing to see if they will make any challenges within the spring.

In addition to edge rusher, this is perhaps the place that I’ve probably the most questions on heading into the spring. Keep watch over the linebackers to see how issues may play out within the fall.

Georgia Tech adds their second interior offensive lineman after landing the commitment of Baylor School (TN) OL Jimmy Bryson. According to 247Sports Composite, Bryson is ranked as a three-star, the No. 35 player in Tennessee, the No. 89 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 1143 player nationally.
I had the chance to see Jimmy Bryson back at Under Camp in Nashville back in April. One thing that caught my eye was his quick feet. In the offensive line drills, he showed good feet and moved through drills at a good pace. He also displayed good hand placement and movement and one-on-one drills. He showed his strength and the ability to stifle opposing pass rushers.
Before making his decision Bryson held 24 offers. More recently, he picked up offers from Duke and Marshall in the month of May. Some of his notable offers were Memphis, Liberty, Middle Tennessee, Georgia Tech, USF, Coastal Carolina, App State, Western Kentucky, Army, and UNC Charlotte.
Bryson picked up an offer from the Yellow Jackets on April 30th and visited campus for the first time this past weekend. It was an official visit for Bryson and Georgia Tech left quite the impression landing the commitment before the weekend ended. Before committing, Bryson also had an official visit set up with Indiana.
As far as his prep play goes, Bryson gets time at various positions including offensive tackle and offensive guard. He’s good at pass protection and stout against opposing pass rushers. When you watch his Hudl tape, he is finishing blocks and moving defenders out of the way with his 6’4 and 285-pound frame.
The Yellow Jackets are likely not done adding to the offensive line and have already landed some notable prospects. In the 2024 class, the Yellow Jackets took five offensive line prospects and all were ranked according to 247. One of the strengths Georgia Tech has had in the Brent Key era is continuing to land solid offensive line prospects and players ready to contribute a few years down the line. It is one of the reasons the offense was so prolific and high-scoring last season because Haynes King had time to throw. The offensive line was solid and dependable all season. Bryson is another solid prospect in the 2025 class for the Yellow Jackets.
For the second straight day, Georgia Tech is facing elimination and needs to win to keep their season alive. After beating Army yesterday, the Yellow Jackets are going to have a rematch from Friday night’s opening game when they faced UNC Wilmington. The Seahawks beat Georgia Tech 9-0 in that game.
