The Dallas Cowboys and star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb have agreed to a multi-year deal, the team announced Monday. It is a four-year, $136 million contract, according to ESPN and NFL Network.

The deal makes Lamb, a three-time Pro Bowler, the second highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. The agreement includes $100 million in guaranteed money.

Lamb held out for all of training camp as well as the Cowboys’ three preseason games in hopes of securing a new contract. He was entering the fifth-year option of the rookie deal he signed in 2017. Lamb was the 17th pick in the first round of that year’s draft. He is now under contract through 2028.

The agreement ends what at times seemed to be a contentious negotiation between the two sides. Dallas owner and president Jerry Jones said earlier in August he felt “no urgency” to get a deal done with Lamb, prompting the receiver to respond on X with an “lol.”

Lamb has been incredibly productive for the Cowboys, appearing in every single game over the last four years. In 2023, he posted career bests with 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns — the former two also being team records. In the Dallas’s lone postseason game last season, he caught nine passes for 110 yards.

In his career, Lamb has 395 receptions for 5,145 yards and 32 touchdowns.

The Cowboys will now seemingly turn their attention toward working on a new contract with quarterback Dak Prescott. While Lamb is locked up, the person throwing him the ball is not. Prescott is entering the final year of his contract and is ineligible to be franchise tagged, which means he could hit the open market as a free agent if the two sides don’t agree to a deal.

Dallas opens its regular season on Sept. 8 against the Cleveland Browns.

DALLAS – Los Angeles Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh praised players for staying calm after being trapped in a Downtown Dallas hotel elevator.

The players were rescued by Dallas firefighters late Friday at the Westin on Main Street.

Those players, including starting quarterback Justin Hebert, spent two hours trapped inside.

The Chargers head coach was not in the elevator but saw the players after they got out.

“It was hot. As each person was coming off the elevator, everyone was sweating, and some had their shirt off,” Coach Harbaugh said. “That’s a shared experience. I mean, it brought them closer together. I just missed it being on that elevator, and I was like, wish I could have been there with those guys.”

The team said the players had to be pulled through a ceiling panel and moved to an adjacent elevator.

Dallas Fire-Rescue’s Urban Search and Rescue team used the working elevator as a ferry to move people in small groups.

The Chargers were in town for a preseason matchup against the Cowboys on Saturday.

They won 26-19 after Cowboys quarterback Trey Lance threw five interceptions.

A two-year-old girl is in the hospital, and a man was taken into custody following a shooting in Dallas on Sunday night

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded to the 8500 block of Sweetwater Drive around 8:15 p.m. after reports of a shooting in the area.

Police told NBC 5 that, according to their initial investigation, an unidentified man fired shots into a vehicle at the location, hitting the toddler inside.

The man, whose name has not been released, was apprehended, and the little girl was taken to a nearby hospital and is in critical condition, authorities said.

There is no word on any other injuries related to the shooting, and Dallas police are still investigating it.
