Dallas kidnapping suspect still on the loose, police release new photos of vehicle

Dallas police have released new pictures of a vehicle they’re looking for in a kidnapping investigation. They want to find the man who lured a boy and a girl into his vehicle. Both are now safe.

DALLAS – Dallas police detectives are hoping new surveillance images will help identify a man wanted for kidnapping a 7-year-old girl on Sunday.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a gray crossover type-car with spots of color missing.

“Perhaps someone recognizes that car might know who drives it and that’s why we’re asking people to take a close look at it,” said Kristin Lowman with Dallas Police.

After speaking to the girl Monday, detectives were also able to get an updated description.

The suspect is believed to be a light-skinned Black man, with short hair with multiple bald patches over his head.

Police say on Sunday, the girl and her 9-year-old brother accepted a ride from the suspect near their apartment complex, located off Argentia Drive in Central Oak Cliff.

The boy was abandoned at a strip mall around noon in the area of West Kist Boulevard at South Polk Street.

Investigators say the suspect drove off with the girl.

She was found walking near her apartment complex some 10 hours later.

Police have not found any witnesses who saw her being dropped off.

They indicated she was victimized in other ways during the kidnapping and asked us not to show her photo.

Police hope someone connects the vehicle, the timing and the location.

“Maybe someone was in that area around noontime on the 11th, was in the area of West Key South Polk, and saw this vehicle and maybe saw the children,” said Lowman. “Any information that someone might have, maybe the vehicle, you noticed a vehicle, that strange in your neighborhood that’s parked that shouldn’t be there. It’s that tiny bit of information that we may get as a police department that could help us in an investigation.”

He siblings’ cousin told FOX 4 Monday the family is desperate for an arrest.

“Oh, man. Just, you know, caught it our little one. Or just reach out to them. So we can do it off the street so that, you know, nothing like this will ever happen again,” said Corey Smith.

The family continues to rally around the siblings who are back home with their mom.

Dallas Mavericks Veteran Forward Wants Team To Sign Another Specific Veteran

The Dallas Mavericks have had a busy offseason so far since the end of the NBA Finals, adding three new players who should all be a part of the main rotation: Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall, and Quentin Grimes. They have one open roster spot left and one team veteran has an idea.

Markieff Morris, who is technically a free agent himself but is expecting to be back on the team as a locker room leader, like he was this past season, wants the team to sign his brother, Marcus Morris. Marcus has been connected to the Mavericks along with the Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, and Cleveland Cavaliers, who he played with last season. The 76ers and Mavericks would give him the best chance to win a championship if that’s what he’s looking for at this stage in his career.

If the Mavs wanted to sign both Morris twins, they’d likely have to release A.J. Lawson, who has a non-guaranteed deal for next season. Or they could trade away Maxi Kleber’s $11 million contract, as Marcus would play a similar role to Kleber.

Marcus and Markieff have had weirdly interweaving careers, even for twins. They were selected with back-to-back picks in the 2011 NBA Draft, but Marcus was traded to the Phoenix Suns halfway through his second season to play with his brother Markieff. After Marcus left the Suns in the 2015 offseason, the two brothers haven’t played together since and would like to play together in the latter stages of their careers.

Marcus is the better player now, averaging 6.4 PPG in 49 games played last season for Cleveland, while Markieff played in just 26 games for the Mavs. The Mavericks acquired Markieff in the trade for Kyrie Irving and has been invaluable in teaching the younger guys in a Udonis Haslem-type role.
