Clark Atlanta students complain of broken locks, multiple thefts due to key issue
ATLANTA – A number of college students at Clark Atlanta College are expressing frustration a few lack of keys for his or her dorm rooms.
A number of college students instructed FOX 5 that they both do not have keys or the keys they got do not work to open and lock their doorways.
Naseem is likely one of the college students who say they do not have a method of locking up their dorm room. FOX 5 will not be mentioning the precise dorm for his security.
“I have been right here since August – didn’t get a key – I’ve needed to go away my door open day by day to get again in, and I don’t really feel secure doing that,” Naseem stated.
Naseem’s mom, who requested that we solely establish her as Nichole, says the keys he acquired when he moved in did not work on his door.
“The RA that was on workers on the time stated that he would put a piece order in for him, and he would get one thing again the next Monday,” she stated. “It has been virtually two months out ,and he nonetheless doesn’t have a key.”
Nichole says her son all the time wished to attend Clark Atlanta College and was excited on transfer in day till this case reared his ugly head.
“The solutions he was giving me, I simply didn’t assume it was true till I reached out to housing and was instructed the identical factor,” she stated.
Many college students say they’ve needed to look forward to an RA to open their doorways in the event that they select to lock them or stick with a good friend. Others preserve their doorways unlocked and hope for the perfect.
Nichole says a break-in and theft in Naseem’s dorm room was the “remaining straw.”
She says her son reported his PlayStation lacking, possible as a result of he is left his door open to have entry to the room in between lessons.
“A few of them have keys to the suite door and a few have keys to the dorm room door, however nobody has keys to all of the doorways,” Nichole says. “So both you’re locked out of your room or all the best way out.”
The household has requested to make a replica of the RA’s keys and the varsity instructed her no.
When FOX 5 requested Clark Atlanta in regards to the subject, a consultant for the varsity stated that every one affected college students have new keys.
“Earlier within the semester, it was dropped at our consideration that an error was made in our key distribution system. Upon receipt of this data, the college diligently labored with its college students utilizing its community order system,” a press release from the varsity reads. “All college students affected have been issued new keys and CAU stays devoted to making sure our college students are supported and secure.”
The consultant says college students ought to have acquired an e mail with pickup data.
FOX 5 has requested when that e mail went out. To this point, we’ve not heard again.
