UAMS gets scholarship vow of $2M

The College of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has acquired a $2 million pledge from a pair to ascertain an endowed scholarship.

The Dr. Rhonda and Ken Dick Endowed Scholarship can be awarded to a scholar who’s a resident of Arkansas and who’s enrolled within the School of Drugs, based on the announcement from UAMS. Desire can be given to a scholar from or dwelling in a rural space who demonstrates a f inancial want, UAMS stated.

Dr. Rhonda Dick retired because the medical director of Pediatric Emergency Drugs at Arkansas Kids’s Hospital in Little Rock in 2019. Ken Dick retired as an assistant director of fiscal companies for the Arkansas Bureau of Legislative Analysis in 2006.

The pledge is made via their revocable belief, based on UAMS.

They created the scholarship partially to honor the reminiscence of Dr. Herd Stone, in appreciation of his mentorship and compassionate care of the individuals of Monroe County.

The scholarship additionally honors the reminiscence of Ferrill and Betty Martin, the dad and mom of Dr. Dick, and George Theodore Jr. and Charlotte Kennedy Dick, the dad and mom of Ken Dick.

Man, 25, fatally shot in southeast Arkansas | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

The Arkansas State Police is investigating a Sunday homicide that took place about 9 miles from the state’s southeast corner, the agency announced Monday.

Around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, a Eudora Police Department officer on patrol heard what sounded like gunshots, according to a report.

The officer responded and was flagged down by witnesses who reported that Jamarion Plummer, 25, had been shot at his home in the 1000 block of North Main Street.

Plummer was taken to Chicot Memorial Medical Center, about 15 miles to the north, in a private vehicle. He was later transferred to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, where he died from his injuries at approximately 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Eudora Police Department requested the assistance of state police. The investigation is ongoing.
