Troy vs. Arkansas State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday

The Arkansas State Red Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Troy Trojans at 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Larry Blakeney Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Both teams worked hard to overcome the odds in their previous battles and are surely both feeling confident heading into this clash.

Arkansas State extended their game-winning streak to three on Saturday. They blew past UMass 52-28. With Arkansas State ahead 31-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Jaylen Raynor had a dynamite game for Arkansas State, throwing for 383 yards and six touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Arkansas State also got help from Adam Jones who showed off his sure hands for 105 receiving yards.

Arkansas State’s defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Javante Mackey and his two sacks.

Meanwhile, Troy’s and Georgia State’s match on Saturday was close at halftime, but Troy turned on the heat in the second half with 22 points. Troy was the clear victor by a 28-7 margin over Georgia State. With that victory, Troy brought their scoring average up to 26 points per game.

Troy’s win was the culmination of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kimani Vidal, who rushed for 76 yards, and also caught a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Taylor, who rushed for 69 yards on only nine carries.

Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 3-2.

Arkansas State and Troy pleased both fans and bettors in their last matches by winning and covering the spread. Looking ahead, Troy is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 17 points. For those looking to play the spread, keep Troy’s opponent in mind: they have a subpar 1-4 record against the spread vs Arkansas State over their last five matchups.

Arkansas State took a serious blow against Troy in their previous matchup last November, falling 48-19. The No. 21 Missouri Tigers enter their final regular season game with the least injury questions than they have had for most other games since the beginning of November.

But, there was a few new additions to the team’s availability report ahead of the Week 14 game against Arkansas. Below is the full availability report for the Tigers and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Homicide suspect causes barricade situation in east Arkansas jail

PHILLIPS COUNTY, Ark. — A suspect in a Helena-West Helena homicide caused a barricade situation Tuesday as he was being processed in the Phillips County Detention Center.

Authorities said a prisoner who was being processed at the jail was able to get hold of some type of instrument and cause harm to himself.

He barricaded himself in the processing area and pepper spray was used to subdue him.

The prisoner was taken to the local emergency room for treatment. No one else was injured.

Helena-West Helena Police Chief Vincent Bell said he doesn’t know much more about what happened at the jail, but said the inmate is connected to a fatal shooting Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect was being held in connection to an incident where a man was shot dead in the doorway of O’Reilly Auto Parts in West Helena.

The shooting was the result of a disagreement that started in front of a motel, and the victim ran to the front of O’Reilly’s where he was fatally shot.

Chief Bell offered no details on a motive or the name of the victim.
