Arkansas group unveils storybook to educate kids on recycling

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KARK/KAIT) – The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission unveiled a new children’s storybook focused on teaching kids the importance of litter prevention and recycling.

Content partner KARK reported the group and Arkansas PBS hosted a live reading of the book ‘The Messy Garden Mystery’ at Pulaski Heights Elementary on Thursday, Jan. 25.

With the help of Otto the Otter and his new friend Marta, the book takes readers on an adventure and teaches kids what it takes to keep the Natural State shining bright.

“That’s the idea here, to let young Arkansans know that we have a special place to live,” said Shea Lewis, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism. “It’s beautiful, natural beauty and we want to keep it that way forever.”

Five Razorbacks to fear as Longhorns prepare for Arkansas

A product of Duncanville, Ja’Quinden is a redshirt senior from Utah and a 2024 Honorable Mention Preseason All-SEC (CFN). He became the first Razorback to rush for a touchdown in six consecutive games since 2010. Originally a Texas Longhorn, Jackson’s journey has taken him from being redshirted in Austin to a standout role with Utah, and now he’s a valuable asset for Sam Pittman at Arkansas. His resilience after a tough ankle injury — where a low sprain turned into a tendon injury — is impressive, and now that he’s back to full health, he’s proven himself a reliable go-to for Green to advance the Razorbacks’ offense.

With 592 rushing yards on 104 carries and 10 touchdowns, Jackson leads Arkansas in rushing yards, in spite of missing the Mississippi State and Ole Miss games. If he’s fully recovered and ready to go this weekend, Texas’s defense will need to prioritize containment on his runs. Stopping Jackson could be the key to cutting down Arkansas’s scoring potential.
