Arkansas Falls in Three At A&M Sunday

Arkansas volleyball’s SEC struggles continued Sunday as the Hogs were swept by the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station (20-25, 20-25, 19-25).

No. 10 Texas A&M is now 7-1 in SEC play, while Arkansas falls to 1-7. The Hogs have not won a conference match since its SEC opener against Ole Miss on Sept. 26, with seven matches remaining on the season.

Arkansas’ offense on the day was led by Lakin Laurendine with 10 kills. Romani Thurman pitched in with seven and was very accurate with zero attack errors on 18 swings forf a .389 hitting percentage.

Sophomore setter Kiki Remensperger had 17 assists and added seven digs, which brings her to 504 in her career. She split setting duties with fellow sophomore Livia Niu in a 6-2 offense, and Niu had 13 assists in the match.

Freshman Journey Peppers had another nice outing with four kills and two blocks, hitting .333.

Set 1

The first set started tight, with five ties early on. A&M then used a 5-1 run and began to pull away at 11-7, a lead the Aggies held only briefly. Arkansas tied it at 14-all with a kill from freshman Sydney Maue, but A&M went ahead at the media break the next point. The Aggies had no trouble keeping the advantage from there and grew their lead to a many as six. Arkansas kept chasing and pushed to 20 points, but the Hogs ran out of time as a final kill handed the Aggies a 25-20 first set victory.

Set 2

The home team carried its momentum into the middle frame and quickly jumped out to a 4-1 lead. Arkansas wasn’t far behind though, and a three-point streak capped by an ace from Laurendine flipped the advantage to 9-8 Razorbacks. There were three lead changes after that, but a solid 4-0 run from the Aggies gave them a comfortable 19-15 cushion. The Hogs continued to apply pressure, but the Aggies outlasted them and again won 25-20 and went up 2-0 in the match.

Set 3

The Razorbacks began to find their rhythm in the third set and maintained the tempo through the midway point. A kill by Thurman and ace by Parker Duncan put Arkansas up 11-8, and the Hogs staved off any big runs by the Aggies to keep control. A&M began to fight back with a kill, and an Arkansas attack error that gave the Aggies the lead at 17-15. The Razorbacks came within one again at 20-19 with a kill from Laurendine, but A&M locked in from there and closed out the third set with a 5-0 run for the 25-19 set victory and match sweep.

Up Next

The Hogs have a quick turnaround as they travel to Auburn to take on the Tigers on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. It’ll be Arkansas’ first nationally-televised match of the season, shown on SEC Network.

Where to watch Texas A&M vs Arkansas today: Time, TV channel to watch Week 8 game

Texas A&M has been one of the best teams in college football about halfway through the 2025 regular season, with a 6-0 record and a No. 4 ranking in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

This weekend, it will look to further enhance that resume.

Coming off a 17-point home win against Florida last Saturday, Mike Elko and the Aggies will hit the road to take on Arkansas on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Texas A&M’s 6-0 start matches the program’s best record through six games since 2016 and is highlighted by a Week 3 win at Notre Dame. The Aggies have scored at least 30 points in five of their six games this season, with quarterback Marcel Reed accounting for 1,676 total yards and 15 touchdowns. Defensively, they’ve been stout in recent weeks, allowing only 12 points per game in their past three victories.

This week, they’ll get a different kind of challenge in an Arkansas team that put up a strong fight in a 34-31 loss last Saturday at No. 11 Tennessee, its first game under interim head coach (and, famously, former Razorbacks head coach) Bobby Petrino. For all of his team’s larger struggles, Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green has been electric this season, with 2,158 total yards and 17 touchdowns.

For all of Petrino’s numerous faults, the man’s still a heck of a play-caller. But the Razorbacks’ defense is simply too porous to do much of anything to neutralize Reed and a much more balanced Texas A&M team. The Aggies shouldn’t have too much trouble in this one, even on the road.

Texas A&M vs. Arkansas score prediction by expert football model

SEC football returns this weekend as No. 4 Texas A&M goes on the road to protect its perfect record against Arkansas in college football’s Week 8 action on Saturday. Here is the latest prediction for the game from an expert model that projects scores.

Texas A&M improved to 6-0 overall and is perfect through three games in SEC play, not allowing more than 17 points in any of its conference games and riding a stout defense that looked solid in a big win over Florida.

Arkansas may be 0-2 in SEC play and below .500 overall at 2-4 and undergoing a midseason coaching change, but is still playing some of the best statistical offense in the country, ranking top 20 in scoring, passing, and rushing, and No. 6 in total output.

What do the analytics suggest for when the Razorbacks welcome the Aggies this weekend?

For that, let’s turn to the SP+ prediction model to get a preview of how Texas A&M and Arkansas compare in this Week 8 college football game.

Predictably, the model is siding with the Aggies over the Hogs in this SEC clash.

SP+ predicts that Texas A&M will defeat Arkansas by a projected score of 34 to 25 and will win the game by an expected margin of 9.0 points in the process.

The model expects that the Aggies have a 71 percent chance of outright victory.

SP+ is a “tempo- and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency” that attempts to predict game outcomes by measuring “the most sustainable and predictable aspects of football.”

How good is it this season? So far, the SP+ college football prediction model is 175-177 against the spread with a 49.7 win percentage. Last week, it was 31-25 (55.4%) in its picks against the spread.

The betting markets are siding with the Aggies by more than a touchdown over the Razorbacks.

Texas A&M is a 7.5 point favorite against Arkansas, according to the updated game lines posted to FanDuel Sportsbook entering the weekend.

FanDuel lists the total at 61.5 points for the matchup.

And it set the moneyline odds for Texas A&M at -310 and for Arkansas at +250 to win outright.

The game’s implied score suggests that the Aggies will prevail against the Hogs, but by another close margin.

When taking the point spread and total into consideration, it’s implied that Texas A&M will defeat Arkansas by a projected score of 35 to 27.

Texas A&M’s defense is allowing just 12 points per game in SEC competition, but will be tested against a Razorbacks ground attack good for over 218 yards per game and more than 6 yards per carry from its backs.

But the Aggies have a potent downfield game led by quarterback Marcel Reed and should find plenty of room against an Arkansas secondary that ranks 116th this season allowing over 251 yards to opponents on average.
