Pennsylvania man pleads guilty to brutal murder of chiropractor

A Pennsylvania man pleaded responsible to the brutal homicide of a chiropractor who prosecutors say he blamed for failing to alleviate his jaw ache. 

Joseph O’Boyle was arrested in January 2021, over a month after Dr. James Sowa was discovered crushed to dying inside his Bensalem workplace. Lower than two years later, prosecutors say O’Boyle pleaded responsible to fees of felony murder, felony trespassing, and possession of an instrument of crime.

In a November press convention to announce the arrest of O’Boyle, Bucks County District Legal professional Matthew Weintraub mentioned O’Boyle beforehand visited Dr. Sowa for remedy of jaw ache. After the go to, investigators mentioned O’Boyle turned obsessive about Dr. Sowa and blamed the 63-year-old for worsening his jaw ache.

Prosecutors say O’Boyle went to Dr. Sowa’s house – which doubled as his workplace – in Bensalem on Nov. 2 and beat him to dying within the head and jaw with a blunt object. Weintraub referred to as the killing “poetic perverse irony” as a result of O’Boyle inflicted lethal accidents to the identical space that he sought remedy.

O’Boyle was noticed on house surveillance arriving at Dr. Sowa’s house workplace and leaving minutes later in a white Nissan Altima. Investigators linked the license plate on that automotive to a house on Byberry Highway. 

When O’Boyle’s father confronted him about of Dr. Sowa’s dying, prosecutors say he turned agitated and began rubbing his jaw. O’Boyle later admitted to his father that he killed Dr. Sowa, in line with prosecutors. 

When authorities executed a search warrant of O’Boyle’s house, he punched a Bensalem detective within the head a number of instances and needed to be wrestled into custody by a number of officers.

He additionally pleaded responsible to 2 counts of aggravated assault and counts of recklessly endangering one other individual, resisting arrest and easy assault.
