Sunny, summer-like conditions and warm temperatures in Connecticut

A light southwest wind rockets temperatures to the upper 70s this afternoon and it lasts through the first half of the week. A cold front approaches Thursday, but it is weak and can send a few light rain showers to western Connecticut. This all comes upon some of the driest weather we have had in a long time. Drought conditions are expected to develop and the threat for the spread of wildfires are higher as a result. Since the front on Thursday doesn’t look strong or organized, it’s likely to only send just a trace of rain to most of the area. High temperatures will be just shy of 80 degrees through Wednesday with a sudden drop on Thursday as the front comes through. Overnight low temperatures will be mild as well, in the 50s to start the week. Sunshine is also expected through this weekend and early next week.
