MKE Concert Picks: Powerful pop-punk, untameable axe-wielders

Milwaukee’s concert scene has a lot going on, so we look at the shows coming up to find the ones you’ll look back on and be glad you went. Then we add them to our weekly Milwaukee Concert Picks.

March in Milwaukee brings more daylight hours, and there’s never a shortage of live shows to see. Here are just a few suggestions coming up this week.

On Thursday night, the Dollyrots bring their pop-punk goodness to Cudahy‘s X-Ray Arcade. I’m hoping they play “My Best Friend’s Hot” and their version of Melanie‘s “Brand New Key.”

The following night — which just so happens to be International Women’s Day — brings legendary guitarist Mary Timony (Ex Hex and Helium) to X-Ray Arcade with opener youbet.

Also on Friday, blues guitarist Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears return to Milwaukee, playing the new Vivarium music venue on the east side.
