How Michigan’s 2022 opponents did in Week 7

The Michigan Wolverines regarded dominant this previous weekend in a blowout win to enhance to 7-0. The race to the Large Ten Championship is on. The East seems to be like it would come down Nov. 26 in Columbus. The West, nonetheless, is broad open.

Let’s examine in on how Michigan’s opponents did in Week 7:

Colorado State: 17-13 L in opposition to Utah State

Colorado State flirted with a second win in a row this week, however fell simply quick in opposition to Utah State. It’s been a tough season up to now for the 1-5 Rams, who get Hawaii subsequent.

Hawaii: 31-16 W in opposition to Nevada

The Rainbow Warriors put up their greatest sport of the season this previous week with a two rating win over Nevada. Hawaii is now 2-5, however it’s a must to take what you will get and construct on it with a first-year head coach.

UConn: 17-13 L in opposition to Ball State

UConn got here very near getting its report to .500 however got here up simply quick in opposition to Ball State. This additionally would’ve been the third straight win for the Huskies. UConn is beginning to seem like an improved program.

Maryland/Indiana: Maryland wins 38-33

Indiana regarded prefer it might pull off the upset for awhile on this one, however the Terps turned on the jets when it mattered most and located a solution to squeak this one out. The Hoosiers are actually deep in a prolonged shedding streak, and Maryland is 5-2 with just a few winnable video games in a row on the schedule.

Iowa: Bye week

Michigan State: 34-28 W in opposition to Wisconsin (OT)

The Spartans lastly ended its four-game skid with an additional time victory in opposition to Wisconsin. As a Michigan fan, you’re completely satisfied Michigan State gained this one. We don’t need the Spartans going into Ann Arbor on a five-game shedding streak; that simply seems like a recipe for catastrophe.

Subsequent up is the battle for Paul for Michigan and Michigan State. Zero excuse for the Wolverines to not win by 4 scores. I’ll go away it at that.

Rutgers: Bye week

Nebraska: 43-37 L in opposition to Purdue

Imagine it or not, even after the abysmal begin to the season for Nebraska that resulted in Scott Frost being fired, the Huskers had been tied for first place within the West earlier than this sport. Purdue and Illinois are actually a sport forward of them, however Nebraska continues to be in hanging distance regardless of its 3-4 general report. Gotta love these divisions.

Illinois: 26-14 W in opposition to Minnesota

The Illini proceed to look an increasing number of spectacular every week. This crew is actually the shock of the convention this 12 months. What Bret Bielema has performed there may be unbelievable.

Illinois has an excellent dashing assault that’s just like Michigan’s type, so who is aware of if we’ll even see a cross when the 2 groups meet. And once they do meet, the Illini could possibly be 9-1 and ranked within the top-10. The subsequent three video games for Illinois are very winnable.

Ohio State: Bye week

Michigan lawmakers react to Minnesota political shooting

UPPER MICHIGAN (WLUC) – Michigan leaders are calling for unity and reflection after a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband were shot and killed in their home in what investigators call a targeted attack.

“Nobody in this country should have to fear for their safety in their own home, whether they are public officials or not, and nobody should be subject to extremism and violence for just doing their jobs,” 23rd State House Rep. Jason Morgan (D-23rd State House District) said. “We have to make sure that we are not putting people in danger for showing up and serving their communities.”

That was Morgan’s response to the fatal shooting of Minnesota’s former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband.

The suspect, Vance Boelter, was captured by police on Sunday. He is also accused of shooting and injuring Minnesota Democratic Senator John Hoffman and his wife at their home.

State House Rep. David Prestin (R-108th State House District) says he’s confident justice will be served.

“To provide punitive punishment to the individual but also send a message to society that this will not be tolerated, and I hope that is conveyed,” Rep. Prestin. “At the end of the day, violence across the board cannot be tolerated.”

Prestin also hopes people will focus less on the suspect and more on legal solutions.

“You wonder sometimes if we didn’t talk about this, how much of this would happen if they really knew they were just going to fade into oblivion and be locked up, and incarcerated for the rest of their life, and no one even knew that they existed,” Prestin said.

Morgan says as a politician, threats of violence can be a scary reality, but he and other legislators refuse to be controlled by fear.

“We cannot let those who want to use fear and violence suppress the democratic process and average people from showing up in their communities,” Morgan said.

Both Republicans and Democrats say we must all make it clear that violence is not a solution.

BREAKING: Four-Star S Decommits From Michigan State

Michigan State football has lost its lone commit from the class of 2027.

On Sunday night, class of 2027 four-star safety Khalil Terry announced on social media that he has decommited from the Spartans.

This news doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Terry committed very early on, and one of the main factors that had intrigued him was former Michigan State cornerbacks coach, Demetrice Martin, who is now at UCLA.

The two had established a close bond, and it has carried over, as UCLA offered Terry back in January.

Terry wrote the following in his decommitment post:

“First and foremost, I’d like to thank the Michigan State football program for having faith in me early in the recruiting process. I never imagined that I’d be in the position that I’m in now. With so many options, and after discussing it with my family, I have decided to de-commit from Michigan State.

“We feel it is in my best interest to open up my recruitment and take a look at all of my options. I only get one shot at this, so I want to make sure I’m making the right decision for the long term. Once again, I want to thank Coach (Jonathan) Smith, Coach KB (Keith Bhonapha) and Coach Adams. I will release a Top 7 in the coming weeks.”

Terry, who plays for Tustin High School in California, is ranked the No. 19 class of 2027 recruit in California and the No. 21 safety in his class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins evaluated Terry back in April:

“Terry is hybrid safety who can cover and plays a physical game. He’s a smart, instinctive defensive back and is always around the ball. He’s a high football IQ player and looks to be 2-3 steps ahead of everyone else on the field. Was timed at 20.3 MPH on the Catapult GPS in a game last season and plays with pace and suddenness.

“He’s a physical player, tackles well in space and will get downhill in a hurry to make a big hit. He anticipates routes, can bait a quarterback and shows good cover skills for a safety. He’s one of the more complete safeties in the region and has all the tools to be an early impact player at the next level.”
