Milta Iris Segarra, 66, of Cleveland, Ohio passed on September 27, 2024. She was born on August 17, 1958 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to the late Manuel Segarra and Julia Figueroa. 

Milta is survived by her devoted husband, Anibal Rios Quinones, and her cherished children, Marko Rios, Sara Lacey, Elizer Torres, and Jonathan Torres. She found immense joy in being a grandmother to Ariyanna Bargainer, Aaliyah, Andrew, and Andre Lacey, as well as Jaiden, Torrey, and Janiya Rios. Each of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she relished the time spent with them.

Milta was born into a loving family and leaves behind her sisters, Diana Smith and Wanda Segarra Cruz, as well as her brothers, Daniel, Richie, and Samuel Segarra. She was also an adoring aunt to her niece Justine Cruz and her nephews Juan Carlos Cruz, Shane Smith, and Tyler Smith. 

Milta was preceded in death by her beloved son, Gabriel Rios, whose memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A graveside service to honor Milta’s life will be held on October 1, 2024, at Riverside Cemetery, located at 3607 Pearl Rd, Cleveland, OH at 12:00 PM. Please meet at the cemetery gates at 11:45 AM. 

Milta Iris Segarra will be deeply missed, yet her love and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

AMHERST TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A Lake County woman was killed Thursday night when she drove her vehicle in the wrong direction on the Ohio Turnpike, crashing head-on into an oncoming tractor-trailer.

The State Highway Patrol says Rita Robinson Whitman, 78, of Willoughby, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near milepost 142 in Lorain County. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 33-year-old woman from McComb, Ohio, had minor injuries. She was taken by ambulance to UH Elyria Medical Center.

The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. Whitman reportedly was driving a 2015 Toyota RAV4 west in the eastbound lanes of the turnpike. She crashed into a 2021 International tractor-trailers in the middle lanes of the highway.

The patrol says it’s unknown why Whitman was driving the wrong way on the turnpike, but the crash remains under investigation.

In 39.2 innings across eight starts, he’s posted a 2.72 ERA, with a 1.13 WHIP and .212 AVG against.

And Boyd has been excellent at inducing the swing and miss from his opponents since his return. He’s sporting a 27.7% K-rate to go along with a 29.7% whiff rate.

Of his three main pitches (Four-seam fastball, changeup, slider) in which he throws over 15% of the time, two of them have resulted in .150 AVGs or lower. His four-seam fastball has held opponents to a just a .150 AVG and .250 SLG, while his slider has been even more impressive as opponents have hit just .148 against it, slugged just .222 and they’re whiffing at it 44.9% of the time.

He’s efficiently induced outs for the Guardians in his starts, which becomes all the more important when each out means that much more under the bright lights of the postseason.
