Is This The Best Breakfast Spot In Montana?

One of my favorite food activities is to go out for breakfast.

Here in Montana we have all kinds of wonderful spots to grab breakfast, in fact a few are very well known. There’s Paul’s Pancake Parlor in Missoula, Shellie’s Country Cafe in Helena, Stella’s Kitchen and Bakery in Billings, and of course the legendary Western Cafe here in Bozeman.

We all have our favorite breakfast foods.

Me, well I’m a biscuits and gravy type of guy. It’s one of my favorite meals and my go to when it comes to trying out a new place. I figure if you’re biscuits and gravy pass the test, than everything else is probably good to go.

However, there is a one breakfast spot here in Montana that’s receiving lots of attention and many claim it might be the best breakfast in the state. So, where is this place that’s getting rave reviews?

The restaurant is actually located in a hotel in Billings.

Bernie’s Diner is located in the Northern Hotel and has a fun, nostalgic feel to it. One look at the menu and you know that that Bernie’s means business. They have all of your favorite breakfast favorites like biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, eggs with your choice of breakfast meat, but they also have some one-of-a-kind dishes as well.

Things like Captain Crunch French toast, chicken and waffles, elk sausage, and the “Vacation Breakfast” are all on the menu. Oh, and in case you were curious as to what the Vacation Breakfast is, you get a big piece of chocolate cake along with a chocolate shake.

What is the average price for breakfast?

The other impressive part are the prices. They start at around 10 dollars and nothing on the menu cost more than 18 bucks. So, the next time you’re in Billings, you might want to give them a shot and see if you agree that it’s one of the best breakfast spots in Montana.

Missoula residents invited to review Russell Street corridor plans

The Montana Department of Transportation is inviting Missoula residents to weigh in on the next phase of improvements to the Russell Street corridor.

Design plans are now 30% complete for Russell Street between Dakota and Mount, and for West Broadway from Toole to Mullan. MDT, along with the City of Missoula and WGM Group, will host a public open house today, Feb. 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Salvation Army on South Russell.

There’s no formal presentation — just a chance to review plans and share feedback ahead of construction, which is tentatively set for 2029.

Missing Missoula man’s body found south of Hamilton

The Ravalli County sheriff says searchers found a 30-year-old Missoula man dead in the Sleeping Child drainage south of Hamilton after he was reported missing since Sunday.

Sheriff Steve Holton identified the man as Richard Jeffrey McGowan.

Forest Service law enforcement located McGowan’s vehicle Tuesday, prompting the Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office and Ravalli County Search and Rescue to begin searching the area.

The search effort was aided by drones and a National Guard helicopter from Malmstrom Air Force Base.

Searchers found McGowan at the base of a rock face, and a preliminary investigation indicates he was the victim of an accidental fall while rock climbing, Holton said.

Montana Is Home To One Of The Most Overrated Ski Resorts

There are a few things that I can’t do in live, and I own up to them.

One of those things is ski. Now, I realize that skiing is a popular past time here in Montana and we’re blessed to have several areas in Big Sky Country that cater to those who like to hit the slopes. From budget friendly to highly exclusive there is something for everyone.

Don’t get me wrong, the idea of doing it sounds thrilling, racing down the mountain on fresh powder, enjoying the view and all that comes with it. I think I would love it, if I could do it. However, I came across something that I found to be interesting. A popular Montana spot was named to be one of the most overrated ski resorts in the country.

What ski resort in Montana is overrated?

This is were things get a bit interesting. So much of what is best and what isn’t comes down to personal opinion. While there will be those who will disagree with what I’m going to reveal, keep in mind, this is not my opinion, it’s the opinion of the source.

According to Outdoor Lifestyle who put out a list of The Top 25 Most Overrated Ski Resorts in the West, when it comes to Montana, Whitefish makes the list.

Now, it should be noted that Whitefish is the only Montana location that is on the list, and Whitefish isn’t ranked near the top, it’s actually ranked 15th. The source, doesn’t give a whole lot of data in to how they came up with the ranking, so we are left to wonder why they picked who they picked.
