Milwaukee garbage schedule, parking changes for Christmas holiday

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Department of Public Works will be modifying certain operations due to the Christmas holiday.

Here is a list of changes that residents need to know.

Garbage, Recycling, and Drop-Off Centers:

There will be no garbage and recycling pick-up on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25. Reminder – collection days shift forward after each City holiday. Review your collection schedule here.
Drop-Off Centers will also be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Parking Enforcement:

No parking meters or hourly restriction enforcement on Wednesday, Dec. 25.
No overnight parking enforcement on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning (Dec. 25 from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.) and Wednesday night into Thursday morning (December 26 from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.). However, vehicles still must be legally parked and not in violation of any posted parking regulations.
Night parking enforcement resumes on Thursday night into Friday morning (Dec. 27 from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.).
If a Snow Emergency is declared, Snow Emergency regulations take precedence. Visit milwaukee.gov/parking for more information.

Tow Lot:

The tow lot is open on Tuesday, Dec. 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Milwaukee Water Works:

The Water Works Customer Service Center at 841 N. Broadway will be closed for the holiday on Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25 for in-person and live telephone assistance.
Automated account information and bill payment will remain available by calling (414) 286-2830.
Customers can pay their Municipal Services Bill and check account balances online anytime at milwaukee.gov/water .
Questions concerning billing or making payments can be emailed to watwebcs@milwaukee.gov or calling Customer Service the following business day.
For water emergencies, customers are asked to call the 24-hour Control Center at (414) 286-3710.

For other requests, schedules, and information, residents should call (414) 286-CITY (2489), visit the DPW website at milwaukee.gov/dpw, or enter service requests online at milwaukee.gov/click4action. or using the free MKE Mobile Action app (milwaukee.gov/mkemobile).

The Texas Stars won when they faced the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026. The final score was 5-2.

The Admirals started off strong and took the lead at the beginning of the game with

Taste & Toast happy-hour deals returning to downtown Milwaukee

Downtown Milwaukee will host its 11th annual Taste & Toast Feb. 23 to Feb. 27, with more than 30 restaurants offering discounted happy-hour prices on drinks and appetizers.

The deals will run from 4 to 7 p.m. each day. This year, those who partake in the event and fill out a short survey about their experience will be entered to win $200 worth of downtown dining gift certificates. Four winners will be chosen March 6.

Specials include fish fry bites at Third Coast Provisions ($6), mini chicken and waffles at Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar ($6), a Wisco Old Fashioned at The Wicked Hop ($7), Irish tacos at McGillicuddy’s ($9), a mimosa flight at Explorium Brew Pub ($8) and a Milwaukee Mule at Central Standard Crafthouse & Kitchen ($7).

Several locations will offer non-alcoholic beverages and appetizers for vegan or gluten-free diners. Reservations are encouraged at restaurants that accept them.

Hoops roundup: Detroit Mercy moves to .500 with victory over Milwaukee

Sophomore TJ Nadeau scored 25 points and senior Orlando Lovejoy added 24 as the University of Detroit Mercy beat the Milwaukee Panthers, 91-86, on Friday in Detroit.

The win was the third in a row for the Titans as they moved to 13-13 on the season and 10-7 in the Horizon League, where they are still in the hunt for a home playoff game.

Nadeau was 8-of-14 from the floor and a career-tying 6-of-10 from three, and Lovejoy was 7-of-13 overall and a perfect 10-of-10 at the charity stripe with seven rebounds and four assists.

UDM will look to extend its winning streak to four in a row when it hosts Green Bay on Senior Day Saturday. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

Shorthanded Thunder get past Nets

Jared McCain scored 21 off the bench and Chet Holmgren had 15 points and seven rebounds to help lift the shorthanded Oklahoma City Thunder to a 105-86 home win over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday.

The Thunder won for the third time in four games, while the Nets have lost three straight and six of their last eight.

Oklahoma City was again without reigning Most Valuable Player Shai Gilgeous- Alexander, who is sidelined due to an abdominal strain, and Jalen Williams, who aggravated a right hamstring strain just before the All-Star break.

Michael Porter Jr. led Brooklyn with 22 points and nine rebounds but was just 1 of 9 from beyond the arc. Nolan Traore added 17 points and Day’Ron Sharpe chipped in 12 points and eight boards.

No. 7 Purdue sinks rival Indiana

Trey Kaufman-Renn scored 20 points and Fletcher Loyer and Omer Mayer each added 18 as No. 7 Purdue routed visiting Indiana 93-64 on Friday in West Lafayette, Ind.

Purdue (22-5, 12-4 Big Ten), which has won five of its last six, never trailed while sending Indiana (17-10, 8-8) to its second straight loss.

The Boilermakers led by as many as 34, shooting 64.7% from the field, compared to 52.2% for the Hoosiers, and held a plus-15 edge on the glass.

Loyer and Mayer both drilled four 3-pointers while combining for just one miss from long range.

Lamar Wilkerson led Indiana with 20 points while Tayton Conerway (12), Tucker DeVries (11) and Reed Bailey (10) followed in double figures. Conerway dished seven assists. Sam Alexis led the Hoosiers with three rebounds.
