Kauai firefighters rescue Utah hiker injured on Sleeping Giant Trail
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Kauai Fire Department firefighters rescued a Utah visitor from Nounou Mountain on the Sleeping Giant Trail in Wailua on Thursday.
Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 7:20 p.m. to a report of a woman with an apparent leg injury located approximately one mile up the trail.
Crews with the Kapaa Fire Station and Rescue 3 responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, first responders arrived at the trailhead shortly before 7:40 p.m. and proceeded up the trail with first-aid and rescue equipment. Crews reached the hiker, provided care for an apparent lower-leg injury, and used a wheeled litter to carry the patient safely down to the trailhead.
The hiker was able to travel to the hospital by personal vehicle. First responders cleared the scene shortly after 9 p.m.

Sun Noodle recalls product sold in Hawaii
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A recall alert was issued Thursday for an instant soup that was sold in Hawaii because it contains an allergen that was not indicated on the label.
The Hawaii Department of Health’s Food and Drug Branch is alerting the public to a recall issued by Sun Noodle for its Sura Tanmen Hot and Sour Flavor Premium Japanese Noodles and Soup Base.
The products were mistakenly packaged with soba sauce soup base, which contains fish, a known allergen.
The recalled soup was distributed only in Hawaii to Don Quijote, Times Supermarket, H Mart, Marukai Wholesale Mart, Nijiya Market, and other local grocers and distributors.
The DOH is following up to make sure the impacted items are no longer available for sale.
The recalled items include Sura Tanmen, individual packages and packs of 12, with the item numbers 05410 or 05410.1, and lot number 1226183.
There have been no reports of illness from the recalled product, according to the DOH.
Customers can return the recalled soup to the original place of purchase for a full refund.
