Brand wins 2nd WV Amateur in record fashion

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -”Sometimes, golf is easy” was part of the reaction from Christian Brand after he won his 2nd West Virginia Amateur at the Greenbrier on Wednesday.

No one in the field could argue with the former Capital High and Marshall star after he blitzed the field and finished at a record 22-under par for the 105th version of the State Am. Brand won by 21 strokes over runner-up Nick Dent from White Sulphur Springs.

He recorded scores of 64, 63, 65, and 66 at The Meadows and Old White Courses in White Sulphur Springs.

Brand also won the WV Amateur in 2011 before he turned pro.
