Greenville County Schools test scores surpass SC average
Greenville County Schools students outperformed the state on several assessments during the 2023-24 school year.
According to the latest assessment data from the South Carolina Department of Education, Greenville County elementary and middle schools exceeded the state in South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Assessments (SC READY) for English language arts and math.
The county’s middle and high school students also surpassed the state in all subject areas on the End-of-Course Examination program. The tested subject areas include Algebra 1, English 2, Biology and U.S. History.
Students in 11th and 12th grade can take South Carolina’s Career Ready Assessment which is designed to measure essential workforce skills. Approximately 76% of GCS students assessed in spring 2024 earned a credential. This percentage was above the state average rate of 72.2%.
GCS Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster said this year’s achievements highlight the intentional and focused work of the students, faculty and district administration.
“The collective efforts have enabled students to not only excel academically but also prepare for their future with essential credentials that demonstrate their readiness to enter the workforce or continue their education,” Royster said.
