Pittsburgh Steelers likely to lose star running back to new team
The Pittsburgh Steelers seem likely to let running back Najee Harris walk this offseason, according to Steelers insider Gerry Dulac. Harris had his fifth-year option declined in May, and the team seems set to move on and make Jaylen Warren the starter. With that in mind, the team will have to explore other options to fill out the depth chart behind him, and with a deep running back class, that could be the move.
Harris, on the other hand, has not given his NFL future much thought, but it does not seem likely he will be back in Pittsburgh.
“I haven’t given that much thought at all,” Harris said
Harris had just six carries for 17 yards on Saturday. With the Steelers, he has put up four straight 1000-yard seasons since he was drafted out of Alabama. He is the only player to do that during the span.
Harris played every single game over those four years, becoming a bastion of health and consistency for the Steelers even through some muddy years they faced. However, his efficiency never followed, but a lot of that was due to scheme and poor offensive line play that never got better over the tenure.

Steelers not planning on any move involving Mike Tomlin, report says
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Pittsburgh Steelers are not planning on any move involving head coach Mike Tomlin, according to a report.
According to KDKA-TV Steelers Insider Gerry Dulac, who cited team sources, says the Steelers are “not planning to make any move” involving Tomlin, despite widespread public outcry in the wake of the team’s postseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
The Steelers trailed early on Saturday night in Baltimore, losing the Wild Card matchup 28-14.
Pittsburgh lost its last four regular season games after starting the season 10-3 and have now lost six straight playoff games.
In those six playoff losses, the team has been collectively outscored 66-0 in the first quarter of those defeats at the hands of New England, Jacksonville, Cleveland, Kansas City, Buffalo, and Baltimore.
Tomlin just completed his 18th season with the Steelers, the longest tenure among NFL coaches.
This past offseason, Tomlin signed a three-year contract extension that runs through the end of the 2027 season.
What will the Steelers roster look like in 2025?
As the Steelers now head into the offseason, a number of questions remain when it comes to their roster composition for the 2025 season, primarily at the quarterback position.
All three quarterbacks on the team’s roster are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents. Whether the team brings back any combination of Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, and Kyle Allen is unclear.
Wilson made a low amount of $1.2 million with the Steelers this year while the Denver Broncos paid a majority of his salary. Several reports suggest Wilson could command a new three-year deal worth as much as $100 million following his season in Pittsburgh.
Outside of the quarterbacks room, Mike Williams, James Daniels, Donte Jackson, Nate Herbig, Elandon Roberts, Najee Harris, Damontae Kazee, Van Jefferson, and Cam Sutton, among others, are all slated to become unrestricted free agents going into the offseason.
The Steelers are set to pick 21st in the opening round of the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay in April.

Penguins Forward Involved in Car Accident Before Game
The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without one of their top forwards following a car accident. Before the team’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the team announced that winger Michael Bunting was involved in a car accident and would miss the upcoming contest.
The Penguins shared the news just prior to the team’s face-off with the Lightning. Penguins Head Coach Mike Sullivan provided the update. He told NHL.com writer Wes Crosby that despite Bunting missing the next game, he is okay following the accident. The organization’s PR team also sent out an update via their X account.
The injury comes less than 24 hours after Bunting was at the center of a very scrappy affair between the Penguins and the Ottawa Senators. He and Senators forward Nick Cousins were sparring partners throughout the contest and Bunting finished the game with six penalty minutes.
Bunting has been one of the best forwards in Pittsburgh this season and has been crucial to the team’s revival in the second half of the season. Over 43 games, he has 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points. He’s been red-hot over his last 10 games specifically, registering six goals and nine points in that span. His tenacious attitude on the ice comes through on every shift and it’s been a huge boost to the Penguins and their at-times lackluster forward group.
The good news for the Penguins is they are set to have a forward return to the lineup while Bunting exits. Winger Philip Tomasino, who has missed the past few games, was activated off of the Injured Reserve in advance of their game against the Lightning. Tomasino has been excellent since the team acquired him from the Nashville Predators, and now he’ll be immediately called upon to produce with the team’s hottest forward out of the lineup.
