Boston College 77-76 Florida State (Feb 1, 2025) Game Recap – ESPN

BOSTON — — Chad Venning hit a put-back jumper and Chas Kelley III stole an errant in-bounds pass and knocked down a 3-pointer as Boston College scored five points in the final seven seconds to snap a six-game losing streak, stunning Florida State 77-76 on Saturday.

Boston College trailed by eight points, 70-62 with less than a minute left but Donald Hand Jr. turned a three-point play, and after the Seminoles’ Jamir Watkins hit two free throws Fred Payne and Hand each hit two to get the Eagles within three. After Malique Ewin hit two free throws, Payne answered with a three-point play to make it 74-72. Ewin hit two more free throws, but after he blocked a Payne layup Venning gathered the loose ball and scored to make it 76-74. A.J. Swinton lobbed Florida State’s in-bounds pass to no one with seven seconds left and Kelley tracked down the loose ball, turned and drilled the game-winning 3.

Boston College (10-11, 2-8 ACC) got off to a 5-0 start, but did not lead the rest of the half after Florida State took a 15-14 lead with 13:22 left.

2 men charged in connection with double shooting at downtown Boston restaurant

Two men arrested in Fall River early Saturday morning are facing charges in connection with a double shooting at a restaurant in Boston’s Downtown Crossing, police said.

Boston police went a bar and grill known as Kingston Cuts, located at to 25 Kingston St., around 12:23 a.m. Saturday for a report of a person shot. The man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said in a statement.

While officers were at the hospital, a second man arrived at the emergency room with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said.

Officers found ballistic evidence from inside the restaurant and identified two suspects based on a review of security cameras. Police broadcast a description of the two suspects, who were seen fleeing in a vehicle.

An officer followed the vehicle on security cameras and saw it stop on Edinboro Street where a passenger discarded what was later identified as a Glock 19 with no magazine and an obliterated serial number, police said. The vehicle was seen fleeing toward Interstate 93 south.

At around 4 a.m., Boston Police were notified by Massachusetts State Police that the suspects and vehicle had been stopped on Route 24 South in Fall River. The suspects, identified as Eliezer Quinones, 26, of Brattleboro, Vermont, and Jahleel Sanders-Williams, 28, of Lynn, were arrested. Their vehicle was taken to Boston Police headquarters.

Quinones and Sanders-Williams are each charged with one count of armed assault with intent to murder. Quinones faces an additional charge of aggravated assault and battery, while Sanders-Williams is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, second offense, and defacement of a firearm serial number.

Both men are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.

Brad Marchand Chirps Brandon Carlo After Bruins Trade Stars

Brad Marchand kept his wits about him after an emotional day for the Bruins and their most recent captain.

Boston was historically active before Friday’s NHL trade deadline. The B’s sending Marchand to the Florida Panthers was the Boston deal that deservedly garnered the most attention, but Don Sweeney and company also orchestrated swaps for Brandon Carlo, Charlie Coyle, Trent Frederic and Justin Brazeau.

Carlo joined the Maple Leafs on Saturday, and Toronto celebrated his arrival with Instagram photos of the defenseman’s first greetings with his new teammates. Marchand, who never shies away from banter, found himself in the post’s comment section.

Carlo very well could have a chance to return serve against his former Bruins teammate on the ice. As two of the top three teams in the Eastern Conference standings, the Panthers and the Maple Leafs very well could meet in the Stanley Cup playoffs this spring.
