North Dakota woman dies in rollover crash, male driver injured

CANDO, N.D. — A 31-year-old woman died and a 20-year-old man was injured when the car he was driving went off the road and rolled near here early in the morning of Saturday, May 27.
Brittney Beck and Jayce Thomas are both from Cando, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Thomas was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu east on North Dakota Highway 66 in Towner County in northern North Dakota when around 5:47 a.m. he crossed over the westbound lane and entered the north ditch, according to the Highway Patrol. The vehicle hit a field approach, rolled several times and then caught fire.
Beck was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled and was pronounced dead on scene. Neither Beck nor Thomas were wearing seatbelts, according to the Highway Patrol.
The crash is under investigation.
Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
