Deadwood gaming deals out $17 million
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Fiscal 2022 (July 2021 by June 2022) was a very good 12 months for Deadwood’s gaming business and a number of other governments and faculty districts benefited from a lift in income.
The South Dakota Fee on Gaming annual report exhibits that $17,149,117 from gaming income taxes paid by Deadwood gaming operators was distributed to state, county, municipal governments, and faculty districts.
“A wholesome Deadwood gaming business is important to the governmental entities that depend on these gaming tax revenues,” Mike Rodman, government director of the Deadwood Gaming Affiliation, mentioned in a launch.
Rodman says gross gaming income for FY 22 was $144,138,671, a rise of 8.6 p.c from fiscal 12 months 2021.
That is what was distributed:
- $3,999,530 for the South Dakota Division of Tourism
- $3,251,973 to the state normal fund
- $1,519,851 for the South Dakota Fee on Gaming
- $100,000 to South Dakota Historic Preservation
- $30,000 to the South Dakota Division of Social Providers
- $1,249,853 to Lawrence County
- $286,017 to the municipalities of Spearfish, Lead, Whitewood and Central Metropolis
- $286,017 to the Lead/Deadwood, Spearfish, Meade and Belle Fourche college districts
The stability of the distribution goes primarily to the historic preservation and restoration within the Metropolis of Deadwood.
