Milwaukee Bucks Star Offers Insightful Insight Into Bucks 7 Game Winning Streak
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard has a lot to say!
Milwaukee is (22-7) on the season. The Bucks are (8-1) in December, and Milwaukee has won 7 in a row on the heels of a nice win against the Knicks. The last time Milwaukee lost, it was to Indiana in the NBA In-Season tournament.
Milwaukee has a new-look, fast-paced offense that is exciting. With a new Head Coach and a new star in Damian Lillard, that makes sense. You’d expect change. The Bucks are 2nd in the NBA in points scored (124.6). But fans, needless to say, started the season worried about this team.
Newly acquired star Damian Lillard does not see what the big fuss is about.
You put a lot of really good players together, it takes time to jell, get to know each other and make things work for everybody… Now you’re starting to see us win in a different type of way because we’re starting to get to know each other better
Quote Taken from Jamal Collier, ESPN
From the looks of this seven-game win streak, the team is truly starting to come together.
Milwaukee Bucks players feeling more “comfortable”
It does not take much statistical poking and prodigy to see that this Milwaukee Bucks offense is pretty darn good. Last year’s offense was good (8th in the NBA in scoring 116 points per game) but this year’s offense is the kind of offense that wins games. Could you imagine trying to stop this offense 4 out of 7 times in a playoff series?
We’re getting more comfortable,” Lillard said. “It’s different when you can communicate a little differently. You know what somebody likes. You know what somebody wants. You know how to make it work. We’re just continuing to get better and I think a game like tonight shows.
Quote Taken from Jamal Collier, ESPN
Both Giannis and Dame are all-time “top 75” NBA players. For them, it might just come down to being “more comfortable”. They have already proven time and time again they can play. A (22-7) start is also evidence of that.
In the win against the Knicks there never seemed to be any doubt Milwaukee was the better team. As the Bucks defeated the Knicks (130-111) pretty handedly and the game never really felt close, Lillard just played hard and directed the offense. Milwaukee had a nice halftime lead (62-54) and a nice lead heading into the 4th quarter (100-87). The Bucks never looked back.
Maybe that was why Coach Griffin played his starters well into the 4th quarter?
Studs and Duds vs Knicks
What’s Next?
For Lillard, the team has to continue to build upon these experiences.
Time and also experiences,” Lillard said. “We’ve had our moments of frustration as individuals and as a team, where we expect better from ourselves. Guys coming into a new situation like myself, Khris and Giannis, me being new to them, it’s normal for us all to have moments of frustration. Because you want things to be able to work for everybody, but it might not be going how you want it to go or in a comfortable way for you. We just kept working through it. We didn’t separate, we just kept trying to find solutions.
Fans are excited to see how this all works together. How does it all fit? Unlike last season where the team could beat teams simply because they were so deep, now the Milwaukee Bucks seem to rely on something they have never been able to rely on before: offensive firepower.
For Damian Lillard things are beginning to work for “everybody”. That should put the league on notice.
