Assistant Secretary Toloui’s Travel to Iowa – United States Department of State


Assistant Secretary of State for Financial and Enterprise Affairs Ramin Toloui will journey October 18-20 to Des Moines, Iowa, to take part within the 2022 Borlaug Dialogue of the World Meals Prize Basis. He’ll talk about the U.S. position – each U.S. farmers and the Division of State – in strengthening international meals safety, resilience to local weather change and advancing U.S. management in agricultural innovation and technological growth, together with deployment of cutting-edge biotechnical knowhow and options.

On October 18, Assistant Secretary Toloui will converse to U.S. Division of Agriculture Borlaug Fellows and take part within the Borlaug Dialogue Opening Ceremony. He’ll then take part in a roundtable dialogue on the “Triple C’s” of COVID-19, Battle, and Local weather and their results on world meals programs.

On October 19, the Assistant Secretary will go to Corteva Agriscience and tour its Johnston, Iowa, facility. He’ll then converse with the Better Des Moines Partnership and meet with Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie on native authorities’s position in sustainability. Assistant Secretary Toloui will attend the Iowa India Summit.

On October 20, Assistant Secretary Toloui will co-host a climate-smart agriculture occasion with Particular Envoy for International Meals Safety Dr. Cary Fowler earlier than assembly with trade leaders. IARN – While the temperatures have been enjoyable lately, the lack of rainfall has been anything but. After experiencing the driest September on record, drought and fire dangers have increased. Justin Glisan, state climatologist for Iowa, said that the drought monitor has been repopulated with zones of abnormally dry conditions.

Iowa Tied for Sixth at Fighting Irish Classic

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Iowa men’s golf team finished two rounds of play at the Fighting Irish Classic on Sunday. The Hawkeyes currently sit in sixth place out of 15 teams.

Sophomore Noah Kent and junior Gage Messingham are both leading the Hawkeyes, tied for 8th place overall. Kent shot 1-over (71) in the first round and 1-under (69) in the second round, finishing with a total score of 140. Messingham join Kent as the only other Hawkeye to go under-par today in a round.

Sophomore Max Tjoa is tied for 37th place, shooting rounds of 74 and 72, with a total score of 146. Senior Chance Rinkol posted scores of 71 and 77 in the first and second rounds, respectively, and sits tied for 51st place with a score of 148. Senior Josh Lundmark recorded rounds of 79 and 71, finishing tied for 64th place with a total score of 150.
