Chris: [00:00:00] We haven’t talked in regards to the HB six scandal in what, two weeks? However we’re speaking about it at this time. It’s at this time in Ohio. The information podcast dialogue from cleveland.com and The Plain Supplier. I’m Chris Quinn right here with Lisa Garvin, Laura Johnston and Lela Tossi. And let’s get proper to it. We thought the following information we talk about about Sam ran Daso, the previous Ohio Public Utilities chief, who First vitality mentioned it bribed can be about prison expenses.

We’ve information about Ranzo profitable a big battle with legislation enforcement authorities. Lisa, what’s it?

Lisa: Effectively, the tenth Ohio Appeals Courtroom, uh, made a ruling earlier this week. Uh, Choose Laurel Batty Hunt, they overturned a Franklin County Frequent Police Courtroom order that was gonna seize as much as $8 million in property from PCO chairs, former PCO chair Sam Ron Daso, and uh, in.

The Franklin County Courtroom Choose Chris Brown, allowed the Lawyer Basic [00:01:00] Dave Yoast to freeze as much as 8 million in Randazzo’s property. However Yost was actually targeted on the sale of 4 properties price 4.8 million, after which a $500,000 house that Randazzo transferred to his son. All the cash, the proceeds from these gross sales went right into a brokerage account and Yost was anxious that it could simply be, you understand, simply go.

Wherever and never be traceable. So, uh, you understand, he ordered that, however then the choose within the frequent police court docket, Chris Brown, mentioned, Oh, effectively we are able to, you understand, put that as much as 8 million, which is type of odd, and that’s why it was overturned. So, um, the Ranzo attraction to this seizure made 5 arguments. Uh, the appeals court docket agreed on two of them.

Uh, they, they, uh, they mentioned that Choose Brown abused his discretion by saying that. Irreparable damage that might justify the seizure of those, uh, property. And there was no clarification or no proof. And in addition they discovered that Choose Brown didn’t adjust to state legal guidelines on garnishment, which requires a court docket look by [00:02:00] Randa earlier than they’ll do this.

As a result of what occurred was they, you understand, the unique order ordered the garnishment of ranzo property at three monetary establishments. So, oops. Effectively, this.

Chris: What makes our judicial system fairly nice, proper? As a result of all people has rights. Everyone’s protected. The state did transfer too rapidly to get these items.

They didn’t actually justify why they need to have it. What, what did the ruling say? The, the, the court docket listening to on this lasted minutes. I imply, they, they didn’t do due course of. Mm-hmm. and although First Vitality mentioned, Yeah, we paid thousands and thousands of {dollars} of bribes to that man, and this huge prison investigation is happening, you.

Need to respect rights. He has rights. He’s not convicted of something. There’s nothing within the report that that might say you get to take it. And Dao group clearly didn’t do the due diligence. So just about the best factor occurred right here, proper?

Lisa: Yeah, and it seems to be like there was just a little little bit of overreach on the ags half and the truth that, you understand, he [00:03:00] wasn’t simply going after, you understand, the funds that he was anxious about.

You realize, they, he bought as much as $8 million. So, after which a choose, the appeals court docket choose Blunt’s opinion, she mentioned, Effectively, you understand, they didn’t say how they got here up with that 8 million determine, however she did wish to stress that the ruling. Solely covers procedural points and doesn’t mirror any opinion on the underlying deserves of this

Chris: lawsuit.

Effectively, Dave Yo is attempting to make it possible for the hurt Randazzo did, which is effectively documented that Ohios get compensated for it. He price Ohio a bundle of cash, and so it’s good that Dave is attempting to guard the Ohio curiosity. He simply has to do the job appropriately. I, my studying of that is that the door is vast open for Yost to return into.

And do that proper and try to freeze these property pending the, the completion of all of the, the prison circumstances. Is there something there? There was nothing the judges mentioned about, That is over. You’re achieved. You’ll be able to’t have the cash.

Lisa: Effectively, apart from [00:04:00] the truth that she says this doesn’t, you understand, assault the underlying deserves of the case.

I, I type of learn between the strains there and mentioned, Effectively, you understand, there are different methods to

Chris: go about this. Yeah, I, I count on we’ll see Dave’s group making one other look. Attention-grabbing story. We’re nonetheless ready for developments involving Randazzo. The investigation and the HB six is taken ceaselessly. It’s at this time in Ohio.

Our Washington DC reporter, Sabrina Eaton examines whether or not Donald Trump’s endorsement of a few congressional candidates, which assist them win the primaries will likely be useful or dangerous within the basic election. Laura, that is fascinating as a result of the middle voters, the undecided voters will not be arduous line Trumpers just like the folks within the Republican occasion, and the sensation is that they don’t wanna have Trump be excessive and current as a result of it may damage.

Laura: Proper. The thought is that the primaries are the place probably the most excessive voters go, so that you’re attempting to attraction to the, that arm of the occasion, and now you’re attempting to get all of the central folks, the individuals who [00:05:00] may not have voted in a major. So Miller appears to be attempting to distance himself from Trump now that he’s going through a Democrat, though that Democrat has, um, Deemer has an entire lot much less cash and identify recognition most likely than Matt Miller.

So that is really my district. It’s Western and Southern Cuyahoga County, Medina and Wayne Counties and Northern Holmes County, should you keep in mind, that was Anthony Gonzalez of Rocky River and Bob Gibbs of Holmes County who have been elected from there earlier than. Long run con. Anthony Gonzales is fairly new, however they each determined to not run for a reelection, perhaps partially due to the backing of Trump for Miller.

I imply, he labored, Miller labored within the White Home. He had his endorsement, he had his favor. He, he bought married at a Trump golf course in in August, and I feel that scared some folks away. However now that we’re. Coming towards the overall. Right here’s what Miller mentioned. He mentioned, Sure, I’ve Donald Trump’s endorsement.

Sure, I’m proud to have it, however [00:06:00] I’m not Donald Trump. When you take a look at our marketing campaign, should you take a look at the problems that we’re specializing in, I’m not participating in the identical kind of political rhetoric as President Trump does.

Chris: Yeah, it’s fascinating. Uh, they’re attempting to distance themselves from Trump. They approached us about parts of a narrative we ran attempting to get us to take away them, which didn’t make a lot sense to me.

I, I feel they do acknowledge that the middle voters. Usually are not Trump followers. I imply, Trump, you understand, tried to overthrow the federal government of america. January sixth is likely one of the worst moments in our historical past, and most of the people within the middle get that, that that was a foul factor. And it’s simply fascinating to me how the minute they win the first, they.

They pivot. I imply, did you see the man in Massa, I feel it was Massachusetts, to win the first. He saved denying that, that Biden gained the election and as quickly as he gained the first, he circled and mentioned, Nope, Biden was the winner. . I imply, it’s, I imply, that was, that was probably the most bare type of type of [00:07:00] this, this subterfuge.

What we’re seeing in Ohio is a extra refined kind

Laura: of. Proper, however Max Miller mentioned the identical factor. To be very clear, Joe Biden is our president. I don’t know if he mentioned something completely different earlier than the election, however he mentioned he’s nonetheless saying there are loads of irregularities throughout the election that must be checked out instantly.

So he’s attempting to stroll this actually positive line of not angering any hardcore Trump followers and nonetheless attempting to sound like an affordable individual. After which Matthew Deemer, he’s a Bay Village podcaster. He was unopposed within the Democratic major. He hopes that these ties to Trump. Make a giant distinction for folks voting for him.

He additionally thinks that abortion is the most important situation going through girls on this nation and, and voters. And Max Miller is saying no, however I feel it’s the, I feel it’s inflation. I feel it’s the economic system, and I feel that actually crystallizes two enormous points on this. Upcoming election and what the events need it to be about.

Chris: Effectively, and look with what’s occurred over the past two [00:08:00] weeks with the inventory market, even when it was abortion, perhaps it’s shifting extra closely to the economic system. I don’t understand it. This can be a very fascinating election season due to the abortion resolution. We’ll must see great things by Sabrina Eaton. Test it out on cleveland.com, and you might be listening to at this time in Ohio.

With fewer than 100 days earlier than Armen Buddhist’s time is Cuyahoga County Government ends. Why is he about to launch a two yr examine of whether or not the county can reduce staffing lava? This is mindless. It looks as if he’s sabotaging the following administration.

Leila: It does kind of appear that approach. That is one other questionable initiative to be launching within the waning days of Armen Buddha’s.

They plan, they plan to place out a request for proposals for a marketing consultant to reevaluate the county’s operational and organizational construction to find out whether or not the county’s payroll is the best measurement or, or if perhaps they’ll completely do extra with a much less. They’ve already been coping with some fairly [00:09:00] severe staffing shortages on the county.

They’re down 1200 workers earlier within the yr, and presently they’ve greater than 800 vacancies and Buddha’s Chief of Employees Invoice. Recommend that perhaps in a few of these departments although, he couldn’t level to examples of which of them we might perhaps we don’t really want to fill these jobs. He mentioned we’re down loads and we’re nonetheless functioning.

There are going to be loads of positions which might be on the books which were on the books for only a actually very long time, and perhaps we don’t must fill all of them. And you understand, we’re speaking about staff who’re accountable for. Quite a lot of stuff. Well being and human providers, public security, justice providers, infrastructure, upkeep and enhancements, and tax assortment, loads of stuff.

And in a few of these departments, the county has been aggressively attempting to recruit extra employees council, elevated pay for corrections officers to assist assist the jail. And simply final evening, county council authorized raises for social staff to enhance situations that kids and household providers and to attempt to recruit.

[00:10:00] Dozens, if not over 100 social staff. However you understand, Mason questions whether or not different departments have already got the staffing wanted to carry out the anticipated duties. And naturally, all of that is on the eve of a transition of energy.

Chris: Yeah. Effectively, I I additionally return to the budgeting interval final yr the place, the place Budh instructed all people any unfilled positions we’re simply wiping ‘em off the books.

He outraged the prosecutor, Michael O’Malley. It’s, What are you speaking about? You’ll be able to’t wipe off the positions. I gotta rent folks to get folks prosecuted. We’ve this huge bubble of individuals we haven’t processed by the pandemic, and, and I didn’t perceive it then. And I perceive this even much less besides if he’s laying the bottom.

To say once I left workplace, the county staffing was X and look what my successor did to bloat it. Uh, you don’t launch a two yr staffing examine when you will have fewer than 100 days left in your administration. And Chris Roan mentioned that. To Caitlin. Mm-hmm. , he mentioned, That is ridiculous. You, that is utterly inappropriate to do [00:11:00] this if you’re gonna be gone in lower than three months.

Yeah. He,

Leila: he was completely offended that Buddhi would impose this on the following govt and, and on taxpayers for that matter, as a result of a examine like this price cash. He mentioned that, you understand, he’s been pushing a, a reorganizing depend of county authorities in a. Funds impartial approach that might create a number of new county workplaces to handle housing and transportation and immigration and, and, uh, a county ombudsman workplace to deal with complaints and join residents to accessible assets.

So no matter this marketing consultant comes again with. Would possibly or may not slot in together with his imaginative and prescient for that. And, you understand, to must take care of a two yr examine of, of, you understand, that’s simply, uh, it’s simply ludicrous to must, to place that on the following, the following govt. Lee Winegard, the Republican candidate mentioned, you understand, effectively really that is, that is what I’ve been speaking about, you understand, slicing the scale of the county payroll by about 800 jobs is, is in step with one in all his marketing campaign guarantees.

So he sees this, this examine, Form of [00:12:00] a step within the, the course of the place he, he can be headed.

Chris: I like the thought although, that they’re attempting to painting themselves as spend thrift after having squandered 66 million in slot funds, 50 million on the medical market. It’s simply there’s such,

Leila: perhaps that’s the technique right here is that, you understand, we’ve been accusing them of, of squandering a lot cash that on the way in which out the door, they wanna appear like they.

Do care about saving cash, and it’s all about optics,

Chris: however they’re speculated to serve the folks. The county’s sole goal is to supply providers in a number of areas, and that’s the place the main focus ought to be , and they also’re pulling again from that and constructing golf golf equipment. It simply doesn’t make any sense what they’re doing.

These hundred days can’t go by quick sufficient. It’s at this time in Ohio. Not like in neighboring states, marijuana shouldn’t be authorized for basic use in Ohio, simply medical use. But. This weekend we are going to see a marijuana summit on the IX [00:13:00] Heart. Lisa, who’s it for and what’s it about?

Lisa: Yeah, it’s known as the Ohio Hashish Well being and Enterprise Summit.

It’s occurring this Saturday and Sunday on the IX Heart, they usually’re anticipating about 2000 attendees from a number of states. So this was based in 2019 by, uh, Cleveland space resident, Lenny Berry, I assume he was once a neighborhood DJ right here. He wished to present public entry to good medical details about marijuana as a result of he was so bored with all of the misinformation and lies that have been on the market.

In order that’s why he began it in. And he the very first one, or the one one often because, uh, it was sidelined by Covid. The final two years he bought 650 folks to the Crown Plaza Lodge and Independence, Though it took him some time to discover a venue due to the topic of the convention, however he’s expanded it.

This yr. In order that they’re gonna have folks from the marijuana trade, they’re gonna have enterprise folks, legal professionals, healthcare folks. They’re gonna have 60 audio system, together with, uh, the primary medical marijuana [00:14:00] affected person right here in Ohio, Insurance coverage folks cultivators. So it’s actually simply type of an all. Encompassing convention, they’ll have con doctor consultants readily available.

They may talk about medical marijuana with attendees at no cost and for $99 you will get a advice since you want a advice to get a medical marijuana card. Um, they’re additionally gonna have like just a little bitty, like job truthful. They’re gonna have profession alternatives with a panel of trade specialists.

So, yeah. Wow. You realize, and Barry, he’s been within the enterprise for a. He used to personal a, a dispensary in Lakewood, however he’s presently p half proprietor of a manufacturing unit that manufactures CBD and hemp merchandise.

Chris: Effectively, and it’s, I feel, inevitable that we are going to have legalized basic use marijuana. So these sorts of issues will grow to be extra common.

However what did you say in regards to the, For $99 you will get a medical marijuana card. So that you simply go in and also you say, I ache and gimme a card.

Lisa: Effectively, I assume the physician should, you understand, assess your signs to see, however I feel the [00:15:00] listing has grown. It was once 21, you understand, situations. So yeah, so for 100 bucks, you understand, you will get a advice after which that will get you one step nearer to a medical measure.

Oh, wow.

Leila: That, that’s, there may be one step lacking in there. I feel you do have to carry one thing out of your, your basic practitioner with you. However I may be fallacious, however I feel that’s true.

Chris: Sounds such as you’ve explored this.

All proper. All proper. Good things. It’s at this time in Ohio. We have been unable to report on restaurant inspections for a few years as a result of the pandemic suspended them, however they’re again and reader. Can not get sufficient of them. Laura, After we publish a narrative a few county’s inspections, it turns into our primary story of the day.

So what are a number of the highlights or lowlights of what we’ve been reporting so

Laura: far? Zachary Smith has reported 4 of those lists to this point. We’ve achieved Lake and Lorraine counties, after which a metropolis of Cleveland after which a Cuyahoga listing. And it’s so fascinating simply the [00:16:00] variety of eating places there have been like, I feel 48, 4400.

Companies that acquired citations in Cuyahoga County after which there’s solely like 865 eating places in Laine County. So, which I used to be shocked by. These lists have a, clearly loads of names on them. There wasn’t, we we’re itemizing the worst. Circumstances, we’re not gonna listing all 4,400 which have uh, issues in Cuyahoga County, however simply absolutely the dire conditions that you just most likely wouldn’t go to.

I like the one in Lake County. The worst had 134 violations. That was hibachi stays home in Paynesville. It’s since closed, which. You suppose? Okay, that is sensible. Uh, there are fuel stations, there’s a McDonald’s, a Burger King, a subway, um, some Chinese language eating places. Nothing actually shockingly like excessive finish that I’d’ve been like, Oh, wow.

I wouldn’t have anticipated to see that there. However, No, no,

Lisa: I, I, I. Hooi in Beachwood, a Chinese language [00:17:00] restaurant, which is has three eating places throughout the town, was on that listing, which type of shocked me. Effectively, there you go. And that’s in

Laura: Beachwood Place. Yeah. Yeah, you positively, you positively wanna take a look at these lists to see in case your favourite spot is in right here, as a result of every restaurant in Ohio is inspected twice a yr, plus any comply with ups wanted to test on any recognized issues, after which different locations that.

Meals to a lesser extent, perhaps it anticipated annually, like Big Eagle is on this listing. One of many large Eagles, uh, the La Plaza grocery store, some violations are actually minor and a few are mounted on the time of the inspection. They, and the evaluation that we did that Zachary did, doesn’t depend violations that have been labeled as corrected.

And people which might be vital might lead instantly to a foodborne sickness in keeping with the Ohio Division of Well being, They. Impose fines, however they’ll droop or revoke working licenses for actually

Chris: unhealthy circumstances. So, so I feel what Lisa simply mentioned is what we hear of on a regular basis, folks pour over these items to see what they know.

LA Plaza is one in all my favourite locations that should you want make any [00:18:00] type of Mexican meals, they’ve every thing, each type of pepper. It’s, it’s an important place. So that you see that it’s like, man, it’s, that’s, that’s

Laura: unhealthy. And the yours really on at Playhouse Sq.. That one raised eyebrows for me. 49 meals inspection violations.

Mm.

Chris: And and that’s what occurs. Folks scan this, they go, Oh my gosh, we go there. Ought to we cease going there? And it’s simply fascinating how a lot folks pour over these. I imply, I’m not kidding. Each time we publish one, it simply rockets up. Everyone’s it. We’re speaking about attempting to parse them just a little in another way, not simply by geography, however by completely different type of delicacies or one thing.

Uh, simply. To point out folks what’s occurring, however, uh, they’re, they’re all on cleveland.com. You’ll find him by looking for restaurant inspections or underneath Zachary

Laura: Smith’s purchase, proper? And he has, um, a tag that each one of his are listed. So should you discover any of his tales, you’ll discover all the inspections proper there.

Chris: Yeah. Good things. At present in Ohio, you’re listening to it. We talked about the IX Heart. [00:19:00] Not that way back. We thought it was completely closed. Now it’s up and working. We’re gonna have reveals. We bought one thing this weekend. We bought the Christmas connection coming, however it’s getting some. Huge renovations. Layla, what’s the phrase?

Effectively, it’s

Leila: no indoor amusement park, which suggests we’ll by no means have to listen to that God for sake, and jingle once more, although simply

Laura: point out, I didn’t know that. That’s by no means coming again . Effectively, I imply, it nonetheless lives down in your head. The Ferris wheel

Chris: is gone, so Ferris wheel’s gone.

Leila: Yeah. And what’s it with out the Ferris wheel?

Proper? .

Laura: However it’s all these scary. That which might be pulled round on

Leila: vehicles. It was nausea inducing machines. However anyway, sure, reporter Sean McDonald tells us that contractors are working six days per week constructing these two enormous partitions within the IX Heart, which is able to create a brand new 530,000 sq. foot occasion house, and it’s gonna part off about 720,000 sq. ft for leasing alternatives.

These renovations are gonna embody new L e D lighting. New electrical and HVAC upgrades. The IX Heart is [00:20:00] gonna get new paint carpets and an upgraded parking zone on its east aspect. The Industrial Realty Group, which now leases the constructing from the town of Cleveland, mentioned it’s spending about 50 million on these renovations.

They’re actively exhibiting the constructing, however they haven’t introduced any tenants but. And people are tenants who’re anticipated to make use of the power for mild trade or warehousing and irg. Is erecting an enormous soundproof wall to divide that tenant house from the exhibition house the place they’re going to proceed to host all of all of our favourite occasions, just like the Residence and Backyard Present and the upcoming Christmas connection.

They’re saying that the renovations ought to be achieved. In time for the beginning of the Christmas connection on November 18th. However, however Laura’s contractors instructed her her addition can be full outta her

So let’s see how they do on the, you understand, 2 million sq. ft of the IX middle. I dunno. ,

Chris: when, once I was studying this story, what I used to be considering is, does anyone discover any of this if you go [00:21:00] to, to the IX Heart for a present? You’re being attentive to the stuff that’s there. It’s the vehicles and the automobile present, or I assume the Christmas items and the Christmas present.

Do you ever discover the lighting or the carpeting?

Laura: Sure, 100%. It’s this ridiculously ratty like purple carpet and people bizarre star formed issues, the hangover and the benches which might be like, Purple molded plastic. Sure. I’m all the time like, When is that this factor gonna get upgraded? So I’m very

Leila: excited.

Lisa: Wow.

Effectively, in occasion planners, you understand, that’s what occasion planners appear like once they’re house. You

Laura: know, I spent loads of time on the boat present for a pair years in a row. Like

Chris: loads of occasions, Lisa, you say occasion planners are up, they wanna see upgraded lights, they wanna see upgraded carpet.

It’s vital to them.

Lisa: Effectively, I, certain, I imply, you understand, the house is, you understand, 9 tens of, you understand, their, their show. So yeah, they need it, you understand, they need a superb backdrop for his or her

Chris: merchandise. I, I assume if that was simply thought of the place a giant pit that has the house [00:22:00] for large reveals, so. You go to the reveals.

However Laura, you understand, I, I take, I stand corrected if that’s what you discover if you go in. Okay. That is,

Leila: that’s humorous. I, I’d’ve made the argument that you just don’t discover that stuff, however as quickly as she mentioned ratty purple carpet, that’s the factor that popped in my head in regards to the IX middle. Is ratty purple carpet.

Chris: Okay, effectively, we’ll must test all of it out. I type of like the way in which Sean described the big partitions. It simply sound, he bought into the element of the way you construct these monumental issues. Okay. It’s at this time in Ohio. We bought extra unhealthy information about Covid primarily based on a case Western Reserve College examine. Lisa, what hazard does it pose for youngsters?

Lisa: Truly, that is type of stunning. I imply, uh, this, uh, examine from the case Western Reserve College Medical Faculty discovered that there’s a 72% improve in kind one diabetes in sufferers underneath 18, six months after a confirmed covid analysis. Now, simply to be [00:23:00] clear, kind one is was once known as juvenile diabetes.

That is normally one thing individuals are born with or, or they develop at a really early age. It has nothing to do with insulin. Resistance, like kind two. So examine co-author Pamela Davis says, Effectively, you understand, kind one is taken into account an autoimmune illness. Kind two shouldn’t be. So as a result of in kind one, the insulin cells are attacked by the physique’s immune system.

So this examine, she says, reinforces a suggestion that covid will increase autoimmune responses in within the physique. They, they’re anxious that they might see. Substantial improve in kind one analysis within the coming years. They usually say that this danger is, is constant throughout all ages from start to 18 years previous Co-author wrongs you says Extra examine is required to see if this danger persists after six months they usually must learn to deal with Covid associated kind one diabetes in kids.

However she says they’re additionally modifications in growth of kind two after [00:24:00] Covid an infection. So it would. Impact on kind two diabetes, which there are numerous extra folks with kind two than kind one in within the us. Yeah. That is

Chris: type of terrifying. I’m someone that offers with three completely different autoimmune situations and the very last thing you need is to have one other factor the place your physique is attacking itself.

I hope that that’s not, doesn’t grow to be one of many long run results of this, however it is also explains why each time they’ve a brand new vaccine, I bounce out to get it. That is, that is scary stuff. And if, and if youngsters. And autoimmune illness early in life, it does make them extra weak for the remainder of their lives.

So it’s fairly terrifying examine. They usually, they usually did this, that is a type of gigantic vast scale research the place they take a look at, what was it, One million folks or one thing? It was, Sure. Mm-hmm. , so it’s not, it’s not some small examine. This was fairly, fairly,

Lisa: however 72% improve. That’s like unbelievable

Chris: virtually.

It’s scary. Very scary stuff. It’s at this time in [00:25:00] Ohio, we’re lower than a month from predicted peak coloration for fall in northeast Ohio, which is adopted by the inevitable drop of loads of leaves. Our backyard gardening column is simply suggesting we cease breaking. Laura, depend me is skeptical. How would that

Laura: work? I like this column by Susan Brownstein cuz she is all the time so sensible and all the time advocating what’s finest for the setting and never simply what’s the prettiest strategy to do your backyard.

So on this case, it’s letting your leaves alone mainly cease breaking ‘em, cease blowing them to curb. And once they fall into your backyard mattress or the woods, simply depart them alone. And in the event that they’re in your grass, you possibly can run them over. Cleveland Guardians President Hints At More Coming Trades After Thomas Deal

The Cleveland Guardians made their first move of the 2024 MLB trade deadline with the acquisition of Washington Nationals outfielder Lane Thomas. It was a move that improved one of the main weaknesses that the team had.

While Thomas is a solid addition, the Guardians could still use some more help if they want to make a run at a championship this season.

Keeping that in mind, Chris Antonetti, the team’s President of Baseball Operations, has spoken out and hinted about more trades coming in the near future.

“We’re definitely not done pursuing things. Whether or not that leads to another deal or more deals, it’s really hard to forecast.”

Antonetti did honestly state that the trade market has been a tough one to navigate this year.

“It was one of the reasons we went out and signed Matt Boyd a couple of weeks ago because we were anticipating this was going to be a challenging market. That’s proven to be the case.”

Acquiring Thomas was a move to improve the offenses potential. Antonetti spoke out about what he expects the veteran outfielder to bring to Cleveland.

“We feel we’ve been able to do that by bringing Lane into the organization. He’s a versatile outfielder, a guy that’s capable of playing center field, right field and can contribute offensively, defensively and on the bases.”

In order to get Thomas, the Guardians had to give up a lot of value, something that Antonetti also spoke out to the press.

“We gave up a lot of value, but that’s what the market necessitated. We gave up three players that we think have a chance to go on and have bright futures and it’s painful to make deals like this, but this is one we felt we had to make.”

All of that being said, it doesn’t sound like Cleveland is done following their move to acquire Thomas.

More trades appear to be likely, assuming the Guardians can find a team that wants to deal as well. It will be interesting to see what Tuesday brings for Cleveland.

Ex-Eagles Quarterback Reportedly Worked Out With Cowboys, Per Insider

There still are plenty of players still out there in free agency still looking for their next opportunities.

Free agency has moved extremely slowly lately and there still are plenty of players out there. There are even some players who could give the Philadelphia Eagles a boost if they decide to make another.

The Eagles don’t necessarily need to add but there still are teams out there looking to add depth throughout the organization and the Dallas Cowboys seem to be one. Dallas is loaded throughout the roster and could be in the market for a quarterback to add more depth and reportedly held a workout for former Eagles quarterback Reid Sinnett recently, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

“Free agent QB Reid Sinnett is working out for the Cowboys today, per source,” Schultz said. “Sinnett spent time with the (Cincinnati Bengals) practice squad last season.”

Sinnett went undrafted in the 2020 National Football League Draft and began his professional career afterward by signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. Since then, he has made stops with the Miami Dolphins, Eagles, San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL, Bengals, and Houston Roughnecks of the United Football League.

He was claimed off waivers by the Eagles in 2021 but didn’t appear in a game. He was cut by Philadelphia in 2022 and spent some time on the practice squad before leaving to go elsewhere.

Hopefully he is able to find his next opportunity soon.
