CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns fans were busy digging their heads in the sand on Sunday when their phones buzzed to give them more bad news.

Around the same time one Cleveland franchise became the first since 2013 to allow a kick return touchdown and punt return touchdown in the same quarter on Sunday, another became the first in its sport this century to have two players indicted on federal gambling charges. And it wasn’t even 2 o’clock Cleveland time.

Several Northeast Ohio police departments competing in holiday food drive challenge


CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Several police departments in the University Circle area are competing in the Battle of the Badges, a holiday food drive challenge.

Teams include:

  • Case Western Reserve University Police Department
  • University Circle Police Department
  • Cleveland Clinic Police Department

The competition is from Nov. 1 through Nov. 16.

All departments are competing to collect the most canned and nonperishable food by total weight.

The donations will be given to the Cleveland Food Bank.

Community members can participate and can drop off donations at any of the police departments.

Below is a list of the requested items:

  • Canned fruit
  • Vegetables
  • Beans
  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Cereal
  • Pasta sauce
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned protein
  • Juice
