Colorado couple trapped in their home by tumbleweeds

FOUNTAIN, Colorado (KRDO) — Robust winds Saturday night time and into Sunday morning in Southern Colorado downed energy traces and tree limbs. However for one couple residing in Fountain, the wind introduced out so many tumbleweeds, they’ll’t even get out of their very own driveway.
“We couldn’t even get out of right here, this was all full,” Marlies Gross stated, pointing on the tower of tumble lurking at her entrance door.
“I seemed out of my lavatory window and a tumbleweed stored on leaping up on the window!”
This isn’t personification, Gross quickly realized her residence was really enclosed by tumbleweeds.
“Horrible! Have a look at that from the deck!” she says, noticing all of her exits are blocked. “I opened the entrance door and it’s entire tumbleweeds. It was filled with tumbleweeds.”
Gross says she tried to depart her driveway, however she couldn’t see the street in entrance of her.
“I nearly bumped into the neighbor’s fence as a result of I didn’t know the place I used to be,” she stated.
Her neighbors spent hours Sunday morning, serving to clear the street for Gross and her husband.
“You needed to struggle your self by the tumbleweeds, which had been above the automobile. You needed to push your self into it.”
However even after the assistance, the sight from her again porch is a sea of tumble.

However, now they’re simply hoping the wind doesn’t blow much more tumbleweeds into this space, making the scenario even worse.
“We nonetheless can’t stroll wherever. I don’t understand how what we’re going to do, how we eliminate these tumbleweeds. Oh, it’s horrible.”
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) – The Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed they are actively responding to reports of a shooting at Atlas Prep School.
KRDO13 asked CSPD if anyone had been injured in the incident or if a suspect had been identified. A spokesperson for Colorado Springs PD said they could not answer those questions at this time.
UPDATE at 4:10 p.m.:
The CEO of Atlas Schools Brittney Stroh released a statement on Facebook. The statement says, “A fight broke out, ending in the loss of a person’s life.” That fight took place during a sports game hosted by an external group that had rented the field from the school.
No Atlas students were affected by the incident.

Dear Atlas families,
On the weekends, Atlas rents our sports fields and facilities to external groups.
Today, during one of those games hosted by an external group, a fight broke out, ending in the loss of a person’s life. While this took place on Atlas’s grounds, neither Atlas nor any of its students were involved or affected. Our condolences go out to the family and friends affected by this tragedy.
The Colorado Springs Police Department is handling this incident. It is an ongoing investigation. We will update here if we have any additional information as it pertains to our Atlas families.
