Smoke rises above the historic First Baptist Church in downtown Dallas

Smoke billowed from the historic First Baptist Dallas Church in downtown Dallas, Texas, Friday evening as firefighters battled a four-alarm fire.

Fire crews arrived just after 6 p.m. to what was originally a two-alarm fire at San Jacinto and North Ervay Street, according to FOX 4.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Dallas Fire-Rescue for more information.

The fire caused the church’s sanctuary to partially collapse, according to the station.

The church was built in 1868, and its sanctuary was added in 1890.

First Baptist Pastor Robert Jeffress asked for prayers for the church.

“We have experienced a fire in the Historic Sanctuary,” he wrote on X. “To our knowledge, no one is hurt or injured, and we thank God for His protection. He is sovereign even in the most difficult times.”

Quoting Romans 8:28, he added, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

Jeffress said the church would “keep you updated as we prepare to come together to worship.”

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

2 teens shot, robbed of their jewelry at street takeover in Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating a shooting and robbery that left two teens injured at a street takeover.

According to an LAPD spokesperson, officers responded to the scene of a multi-victim shooting near 54th Street and Western Avenue in the Vermont Square neighborhood around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Simultaneously, other officers were dispatched to a local hospital on reports of gunshot wound victims, the spokesperson stated.

“Upon further investigation, both victims were at a street takeover when three Hispanic males approached them and robbed them of their jewelry,” LAPD said.  “A suspect pulled out a gun and fired at both of the teens, striking them.”

One of the victims threw an object at the vehicle after being shot, police added.

Whether the shooting was gang-related is not known, and no further information surrounding the suspects or their vehicle was released.

Alexis Lewis contributed to this report.

Pregnant Texas woman 8 months along loses baby after hit-and-run: 'I want to know how they sleep at night'

A Texas woman is grieving the shocking loss of her baby.

Casi Hughes was walking across a street back to her home after watching a fireworks show July 3, when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver.

“All of a sudden, somebody said watch out, and I looked to my left, and there was a car. And I remember trying to jump out of the way,” Hughes, who was eight months pregnant at the time, told FOX 4. “I want to know why they didn’t stop.”

She said she realized she had lost her son as she was being flown to a hospital.

“’Y’all need to get the baby. Y’all need to take the baby. Y’all need to cut me open and get the baby,’” she said she kept telling first responders through tears. “And the only thing I remember throughout that whole trip was the look on the flight mate’s face while he was trying to find the heartbeat. And I kept asking him if he could find it or if he heard anything at all, and it was like he wouldn’t even look at me. I just knew as soon as I watched him that he was gone.”

The suspect was driving a white or silver passenger vehicle, police said. Investigators are searching for video of the incident but don’t have any suspects yet.

Loved ones remember mother of 6 killed in Pomona hit-and-run

Friends and family gathered in Pomona Friday evening for a vigil honoring a mother of six who died following a hit-and-run crash on July 5. The driver remains at large.

Carol Fuentes, 57, was on her way home from gambling at the Morongo Casino when, according to police, she was involved in a three-car collision caused by the driver of a Ford Expedition at about 9 p.m. at the intersection of Garey and Orange Grove avenues.

Fuentes, who suffered a traumatic brain injury, was among four people who were hospitalized. The driver of the Expedition ran away from the scene.
