WNBA's Caitlin Clark sparks streaming milestone on Disney+
WNBA rookie sensation and Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark will make her regular season debut on Disney+, the first in the streaming platform’s history.
This comes during a revolution in live sports programming, where leagues like the NFL and Major League Baseball have ventured since streaming has become a mainstay in content consumption.
Clark, the No. 1 overall pick, and the Fever will face the Sparks at Crypto.com Arena on May 24, matching up against former Stanford standout Cameron Brink, who was the No. 2 overall pick.
The original venue was Walter Pyramid at Cal State Long Beach, moving to the home of the Lakers, Kings and Sparks to increase capacity.
Clark and the Fever recently sold out a preseason game against the Dallas Wings, making her professional debut in front of a sold-out crowd.
She scored 21 points with three rebounds, two assists and two steals in a loss to Dallas.
After breaking the NCAA Division I all-time scoring record, she led the University of Iowa Hawkeyes to the national championship title game, losing to South Carolina.
She set a milestone for WNBA jersey sales. Her No. 22 jersey sold out within two hours, setting a record for the highest number of jerseys sold on any draft night for any athlete across all sports.
Since being drafted, she’s become the face of the WNBA, coming after an announcement from the WNBA’s commissioner, Cathy Engelbert, they will begin to charter planes for their players.
Single-game tickets go on sale to the general public on May 9th at 8:00 a.m. PST for the Sparks’ matchup against the Fever will and season ticket holders can purchase their tickets now.

Woman shoots, kills man who came to her Southern California home armed with knives
A man is dead following an incident where it appears he was shot in self-defense.
Authorities say the shooting occurred around 9:47 p.m. at a home in the 400 block of South Shamrock Avenue in Monrovia.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about a possible violation of a restraining order. When they arrived, they found an Asian male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
LASD says the Asian male arrived at the home armed with knives and attempted to stab a White male and White female who lived at the property. Investigators determined that the female shot the deceased to stop him from advancing on her and the male.
Both the female and male who lived at the home were questioned by deputies and neither was arrested.
Anyone with more information about this case is asked to contact LASD at 213-229-1700.

Suspect dead after hours-long SWAT standoff in Tarzana
A shooting suspect is dead after an hours-long SWAT standoff in Tarzana Saturday.
Police responded to reports of a man firing shots near Victory Boulevard and Sylvia Avenue at around 2 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The armed suspect later barricaded himself inside a home on the 19200 block of Victory Boulevard, prompting police to evacuate nearby residents in the area.
SWAT Team members and police created a perimeter around the house as the man remained barricaded inside.
Negotiators spoke with the suspect on the phone, attempting to convince him to come outside. However, after several conversations, police said the man hung up the phone and refused to cooperate.
At one point, the suspect’s partner reportedly called police to tell them he was armed with a gun and had fired shots inside their home.
After around five hours barricaded inside, SWAT members forcefully entered the house and found the suspect dead inside.
Neighbors in the area were concerned as they watched the situation unfold amid a large police presence in the area.
“It’s very scary,” said Laurence Brown, a Tarzana resident. “It was hard to evacuate the area because they established such a large perimeter. A lot of spectators want to know what is going on. They’re concerned about the events that have transpired.”
The circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death were not released. His identity and official cause of death will be determined by the coroner’s office.
The fatal incident remains under investigation.
