Video shows woman jump from ambulance on busy Los Angeles freeway

Video shared with KTLA by a viewer shows a woman jumping from the back of an ambulance in the middle of heavy traffic on a Los Angeles freeway.

It was unclear exactly where and when the incident occurred, but the video uploaded to Instagram late last week by ONEHOODATATIME_MICKDOGG88 appears to show the events taking place on a busy stretch of the 110 Freeway.

A person is seen hanging out of an ambulance on a Los Angeles freeway in an image taken from video provided by ONEHOODATATIME_MICKDOGG88 via Instagram.

The woman is first seen hanging from the back of the ambulance with one of its rear doors open as it slows down and pulls over to the shoulder.

Then, she steps off the vehicle’s bumper and runs up an embankment toward a freeway exit ramp.

KTLA 5 News has contacted law enforcement to see if they are aware of the incident and is waiting to hear back.

Deputy shoots man allegedly armed with gun, knife in Apple Valley

A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy shot and wounded an armed man after he shot and wounded a woman in Apple Valley, officials said.

The man, 71-year-old Thoren Rand, was reported for allegedly assaulting a 69-year-old woman in the 15200 Block of Pocahontas Street a few minutes before 8:30 a.m. Monday, the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

When deputies arrived, the woman ran out of the home while suffering from “severe injuries,” with Rand in pursuit of her, the release said.

“Rand was armed with a large knife and a firearm,” the release said. “The deputy gave Rand numerous commands to drop the weapons, but he refused to comply.”

It was at that point that the deputy opened fire, the release added, striking Rand at least once.

“Through investigation, it was learned Rand physically assaulted the victim and then shot her,” officials said. “She was transported to a hospital where she remains in stable condition.”

Rand is also still hospitalized, though his condition is unknown.

He is being held in Sheriff’s Department custody, and his bail has been set at $1 million.

Rand is due to appear in Victorville Superior Court on Wednesday on an attempted murder charge.

Residents of Los Angeles neighborhood feeling 'unsafe' after multiple home break-ins

A homeowner in Mar Vista is speaking out after their house was broken into for the fourth time in five years.

The victim was at dinner with their family when the break-in occurred around 5:30 p.m. on April 20.

When the family arrived back home, their home had been ransacked. The suspects took everything from appliances to a firearm. The thieves had gone through everything, throwing the victims’ belongings around the house.

“It makes me feel pretty unsafe,” the homeowner said to KTLA 5’s Omar Lewis.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirms there were numerous break-ins in the area on April 20, and many of the victims say the burglars used the same method.

Security footage obtained by KTLA shows a woman walking up to the home with a mask on and knocking on the door. When it’s confirmed that no one is in the house, multiple men arrive moments later and smash their way into the home.

The same group is seen in several videos and pictures of the thieves posted online. The group of burglars is seen fleeing the scene in a white Honda SUV in the security footage.

Residential burglaries have been on the rise over the past year in Los Angeles, with home break-ins increasing by 4.5% compared to 2023.
