Suspects entered home through upstairs bedroom in Encino burglary: police
Police are searching for suspects tied to the burglary of an Encino home overnight.
It took place around 1 a.m. Sunday in the 4500 block of Dempsey Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
An LAPD spokesperson confirmed that officers were dispatched to the location, a residential neighborhood just south of Ventura Boulevard, after a call came in regarding multiple suspects who entered a home through a sliding glass door that led to an upstairs bedroom.
Preliminary unconfirmed reports from the scene indicate at least one person was home at the time and that they heard the suspects before locking themselves in a downstairs room and calling police.
However, the time LAPD units arrived at the scene, the suspects had already fled.
It was not clear right away whether anything was taken from the home, and no further details surrounding the incident, including a description of the suspects, were available.
A burglary investigation is now underway.
Sunday’s burglary follows another burglary that took place in Studio City early Saturday morning. In that case, police said $100,000 in property was taken from a home.

Thieves stealing air-conditioning units in Pasadena, police say
Thieves have torn apart expensive rooftop air-conditioning units at numerous Pasadena businesses looking for valuable copper parts, police say.
At least six businesses were hit in recent weeks, according to the Pasadena Police Department.
Two small businesses, a bakery and a pet hospital, are among those without air-conditioning due to the thefts. Darlene Lopez, an employee at Pasadena Animal Hospital, told KTLA that the vet’s office has brought in swamp coolers to try to keep the business cool during the summer heat.
“We have our patients in the cooler area of the hospital,” Lopez said.
Security footage of one of the thefts shows a suspect hopping a wall on July 12 before taking off with an air-conditioning unit. A suspected accomplice was also seen on a bicycle in the background, Pasadena police said.
Authorities are encouraging businesses to install metal cages around the units and set up security cameras.

VIDEO: Bear hops wall into Glendale backyard
A black bear was caught on camera roaming the yards of multiple Glendale homes Friday.
Video provided by a viewer shows the bear climbing onto a wall on the 3300 block of Paraiso Way, down the street from Valley View Elementary School, at around 4:15 p.m. The bear then sidesteps a gate and leaps down into the home’s backyard.
Glendale Police Department officers were seen following the bear as it made its way through the neighborhood. A resident had a brief encounter with the bear while they were walking their dog, the viewer who provided the video told KTLA. The resident, dog and bear were all unharmed, they said.
Residents in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains have said that bear sightings are more frequent since the Eaton Fire, which burned more than 14,000 acres in the Altadena area.
