Rams star receiver sending Air Force veteran to Super Bowl

Los Angeles Rams rookie receiver Puka Nacua set numerous records on the field in his first season in the NFL. Now headed into his first offseason as a pro, he’s giving back in a big way.

While his team won’t be competing in Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium, Nacua will be in Las Vegas to send off a couple of honored guests.

Nacua has partnered with USAA and the Non-Commissioned Officers Association of America to award lifelong Rams fan and decorated Air Force veteran Jim Sullivan a trip to Las Vegas and two tickets to the big game.

Sullivan served in the United States Air Force supporting supply and logistics from 1978 to 2001, retiring at the rank of chief master sergeant. During his 23-year military career, he was stationed throughout the United States, as well as in Greece and Germany, where he oversaw warehouse designs, contracting and logistics operations, officials said.

His decorated career includes the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and Airman of the Year award.

Sullivan won’t be traveling alone; in fact, he’ll be joined by a fellow Air Force veteran and Rams fan, his longtime friend retired Master Sgt. Michael Grabow.

The two will travel to Las Vegas prior to the Super Bowl where they will meet the Rams rookie phenom before heading to the game.

Nacua said he felt honored to partner with the USAA and the NCOA to send the two Rams fans and veterans to the Super Bowl, which he says serves as a small token of thanks for their service to the country.

“As soon as I was drafted by Los Angeles, I was welcomed into the ‘Ramily,’ so it’s my privilege to give back to the faithful fans whenever I can,” Nacua.

Super Bowl LVIII takes place Sunday, Feb. 11 in Paradise, Nevada, home of the Las Vegas Raiders. The game will be broadcast on CBS.

Prior to that, Nacua will travel to Orlando, Florida, to participate in the NFL Pro Bowl Games. He is one of four Rams players chosen to represent the team alongside quarterback Matthew Stafford, running back Kyren Williams and defensive lineman Aaron Donald.

Nacua, a fifth-round pick out of BYU, broke the NFL rookie receiving yards and receptions records, as well as a handful of other longstanding receiving records.
