Driver allowed to use bathroom after crashing into L.A. home

A motorist taken away in handcuffs was first given permission to use the restroom after crashing into a Los Angeles area home overnight.

The incident was reported near California Street and Santa Fe Avenue in the Florence-Firestone area late Sunday night after a silver four-door sedan plowed through a front yard and then slammed into the side of the home.

Officers are investigating whether the driver also struck a parked vehicle before hitting the house.

The crash apparently caused a small gas leak, requiring the homeowner to find another place to spend the night.

Freelance media firm OnScene.TV reported that the homeowner permitted the handcuffed driver to use the restroom after the crash. The handcuffs were apparently removed when the suspect was escorted into the home.

It was unclear if the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision.
