Crash leaves hundreds of Amazon packages on 5 Freeway in East Los Angeles
A crash involving multiple vehicles, including two big rigs, left hundreds of Amazon packages on the 5 Freeway in the East Los Angeles area Monday morning.
The four-vehicle collision was reported just after 6:30 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway near Ditman Avenue.
The collision “left hundreds of packages” on the freeway and blocked multiple southbound lanes, the California Highway Patrol stated.
Responders also discovered a light pole had been damaged and about 40 gallons of fuel had leaked out of one of the trucks.
A SigAlert issued at 7 a.m. for the closure of two southbound lanes was expected to be in place for about two hours, according to the CHP.
There was no immediate word on any injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Hospital needs help identifying man found unconscious in downtown Los Angeles
A hospital needs help identifying a male patient who was found injured and unconscious in downtown Los Angeles.
The man is believed to be in his 30s, according to the Los Angeles General Medical Center.
He was found injured on the ground on Omar Street and has been hospitalized since June 22.
He stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 176 pounds. He has brown eyes, dark brown hair and tattoos across his upper body.
He did not have any personal belongings to help staff identify him or contact loved ones. Workers did not disclose the nature of his injuries.
