JAY – Virginia “Gini” (Brown) Longley, of Jay, handed away peacefully on Mom’s Day, Could 8, 2022, after an extended exhausting battle with Alzheimer’s. She is the spouse of the late Joseph Longley.
She was born in Augusta on July 1, 1941, the daughter of Dorothy Patten and Earl Brown. She grew up in Winthrop and was a graduate of the Winthrop Excessive College class of 1959, the place she loved cheerleading and basketball.
In her earlier years, she labored as a authorized secretary and varied different jobs in and round Winthrop, together with proudly owning and working the Cobbossee Motel in East Winthrop. In 1970, she married Joseph Longley and moved to Jay. She labored as a secretary for the State of Maine, DHHS till her retirement.
Gini had a love for tenting and the household spent many summers at Riverbend Campground in Leeds. After retirement, she and her husband purchased a fifth wheel camper and traveled throughout the nation, from Canada to Arizona, the place she made many pals, however she had a tough time spending an excessive amount of time away from her household, so she at all times got here dwelling prior to anticipated.

She is survived by her daughters Julie Barker and husband Gene of Winthrop, Jodi Kimball and husband Dwight of Readfield, her son, Joseph “Billy” Longley Jr. and spouse Christine of Jay; grandchildren Eric Thompson of Carmel, Evan Thompson of Glenburn, Joseph “Billy” Longley III of Lewiston, Bryana Longley of Lewiston, Hannah Bessette and husband Zach of Monmouth; and three great-grandsons. She can also be survived by her brother, Kenneth Patten of Winthrop and her sister, Marie Hodgdon and husband, Ron of Mt. Vernon.
Along with her husband and oldsters, Gini was predeceased by her daughter, Lori Thompson; and sister-in-law, Sharon Patten
