With the Longhorns preparing to enter the SEC this summer, it’s time to assess the state of the program by looking at each position group entering the spring, as well as a high-level look at five storylines to follow over the next month.

Texas A&M receives a prediction to land elite 2027 5-star Edge

Texas A&M receives a prediction to land elite 2027 5-star Edge

Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class is in clear contention to finish as the No. 1-ranked cycle, already landing ten commitments, including four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson, who will reportedly take an official visit to College Station in late May. So far, head coach Mike Elko and his staff are leading with several blue-chip prospects at nearly every position group, including five-star edge Zyron Forstall.

Forstall has been a top target for Elko and his defensive line coaching staff for quite some time, and with Elijah Robinson back on staff, the Aggies have made significant progress with the elite pass rusher, who Elko has compared to unanimous All-American Cashius Howell, who is headed to the NFL next season.

On Monday, Rivals recruiting experts Steve Wiltfong and Sam Spiegelman released their prediction for Texas A&M to land Forstall, as the momentum continues, especially on the defensive side. So far, Elko has landed commitments from four-star defensive linemen Myels Smith, Elijah Patmon, and Kaden McCarty, and will be in the running for several other names in the defensive trenches.

After sending defensive linemen Nic Scourt, Shemar Stewart, and Shemar Turner to the 2025 NFL Draft, all going in the first and second rounds, Cashius Howell is already being predicted as a first-round selection, and you can be sure that Zyron Forstall is paying close attention to Elko’s development track record with elite pass rushers.

Forstall is expected to return to campus in the spring and to attend an official visit this summer, which will make up for the cancelled junior day weekend due to inclement weather late last month. If the Aggies land his commitment in the near future, expect more to come on the defensive side.

What we know:

Jeremiah Devereaux was taken into custody Saturday, Jan. 31, after officers responded to a criminal trespass call in the 1300 block of S. Loop 288. Witnesses at a local gym reported that a man had entered the women’s locker room, sauna, and bathroom. Devereaux allegedly ran from the scene but was arrested by officers on an outstanding theft warrant.

The arrest led to a joint investigation involving the Denton Police Department and the University of North Texas (UNT) Police Department.

Authorities linked Devereaux to an indecent exposure incident that happened Friday, Jan. 30, at the UNT campus, where a man reportedly exposed himself to a woman in a restroom. UNT Police subsequently obtained a warrant for his arrest in that case.

Police noted that Devereaux has a history of similar behavior. In January 2025, he was arrested at Texas Woman’s University (TWU) for criminal trespass and resisting arrest after he allegedly attempted to follow a woman into a bathroom stall.

Devereaux is currently held in the Denton County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
