In line with Tipico Sportsbook, the Titans are 5.5-point favorites over the Giants for the season-opener. The over/underneath is about at 43.5.

This unfold has really tightened because the final time we checked in Could, when it was 6.5. The over/underneath has gone down, additionally, from 44.5.

It’s a giant blow to a Titans protection and pass-rush that’s anticipated to be among the many league’s finest and a stabilizing drive for a Tennessee group that has a slew of recent faces and query marks on the offensive aspect of the ball.

However with the ability to thrive with out their finest gamers was a staple of the Titans in 2021. The group fielded an NFL file 91 gamers final season due to accidents however nonetheless managed to drag off a 12-win season, division title, and the No. 1 seed within the AFC.

After buying and selling A.J. Brown, the Titans drafted Treylon Burks and Kyle Philips, becoming a member of a receivers room that additionally included veteran Robert Woods and the one returning wideout from 2021, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.

Additionally of word for Tennessee is the 2 new starters they’ve on the offensive line in left guard Aaron Brewer and rookie proper sort out Nicholas Petit-Frere, each of whom must show they’re succesful starters within the NFL.

All the beginning unit didn’t get any run collectively within the preseason, so a sluggish begin could be very potential for Tennessee’s new-look offense, which is as soon as once more led by quarterback Ryan Tannehill and operating again Derrick Henry.

The Giants are coming off yet one more dropping season — their fifth straight — however there’s hope but with a brand new head coach on the helm in Brian Daboll. The Giants are hoping he can convey a number of the magic that helped flip the Buffalo Payments into an offensive juggernaut in recent times.

Nevertheless, New York remains to be climbing out of the opening that former common supervisor Dave Gettleman dug for the franchise throughout his time there, significantly relating to their wage cap state of affairs.

The Giants needed to let some items go through the offseason to make issues work, the largest of which could have been cornerback James Bradberry, who joins the aforementioned Brown in Philly.

Dropping Bradberry leaves fairly a little bit of uncertainty within the Giants’ cornerbacks room, which is now led by former Titans nook Adoree’ Jackson and 2021 third-round decide, Aaron Robinson.

Including to Large Blue’s woes on protection, the Giants could also be with out two of their prime pass-rushers in Azeez Ojulari and 2022 first-round decide Kayvon Thibodeaux, two of a lot of New York’s strolling wounded from the preseason.

On offense, the Giants determine to have an improved offensive line with a couple of new additions, however their largest names on offense all carry main query marks.

Quarterback Daniel Jones and operating again Saquon Barkley have each handled damage and consistency points throughout their careers. Huge receiver Kenny Golladay has been horrible since signing in New York, and fellow wideout Kadarius Toney has flashed promise however has additionally struggled with accidents.

With all of the query marks and total points each groups have on offense, a sluggish begin is much more possible than it often is in season-openers. Because of this, we’ve Tennessee squeaking out a win over New York in a considerably low-scoring affair, 23-20.

Could the Tennessee Volunteers Host a First Round College Football Playoff Game?

Could the Tennessee Volunteers end up hosting a first round college football playoff game?

After the loss to Georgia, it looked like Tennessee was going to need some help to get their way back into the playoff, and they got more than enough help on Saturday. Alabama lost to Oklahoma, Ole Miss lost to Florida and Indiana lost to Ohio State. Three teams that were ranked ahead of Tennessee opened up a playoff spot for them this week.

Not only did it get the Volunteers back into the playoffs, it might have put them in a position to host a first round playoff game. A few things would need to happen and a lot of it will depend on what happens during conference championship week, but it’s certainly a possibility.

The five-seed, the six-seed, the seven-seed and the eight-seed all get to host for the first round. As of right now, it looks like Notre Dame is going to take one of those slots. The winner of Texas A&M vs Texas plays Georgia in the SEC Championship Game and the loser of that might take one of those spots as well. An Oregon vs Ohio State rematch is looking likely for the Big 10 Conference Championship and you would have to imagine that the loser of that game would take a host spot as well. So as of right now, it’s looking like there might only be one host spot up for grabs in the playoffs and Tennessee very well could be the team to snag it as an eighth seed.

More clarity will be provided about this when the rankings are released this Tuesday but the Volunteers had a very successful weekend of college football, needless to say.
