South Carolina Releases APR Scores
All of the University of South Carolina’s countable intercollegiate sports posted a multiyear score of 960 or better, according to the Academic Progress Rate (APR) statistics that were released today. Of the eighteen measured sports, twelve sports recorded multiyear APR scores of 980 or better. Fourteen sports matched or improved on their multiyear rate and eleven sports improved on their single-year rate from last year.
Seven sports scored a perfect single-year score (1000) for the 2022-23 academic year. Volleyball registered a perfect single-year score for the tenth-straight year. Beach Volleyball continues its streak of perfect APR scoring since the NCAA started collecting data for the sport. Once again, our elite Women’s Basketball team outpaced the multiyear national average, this time by 14 points, while our Football team exceeded the multiyear national average by 18 points.
The APR is a point system based on scholarship student-athletes’ eligibility and retention for a pre-determined four-year time period. NCAA sports falling below the established multiyear cutoff (930) may be subject to penalties including scholarship reductions and postseason bans. For purposes of APR reporting, indoor & outdoor track & field teams are combined. The data released on Tuesday includes the scholarship student-athletes on rosters from the 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23 academic years.

Winnings $501 to $100,000, may be redeemed by mailing your signed winning ticket along with a completed claim form and a copy of a government-issued photo ID to the South Carolina Education Lottery Claims Center. For security, keep copies of your documents and use registered mail to ensure the safe arrival of your ticket.

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. – The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash Saturday afternoon.
Troopers said that the crash was reported to have happened at 3:35 p.m. at the intersection of Augusta Road and Matrix Parkway.
Officials said that four vehicles were involved in the crash. A 2019 Jeep SUV was turning left onto Matrix Parkway from Augusta Road when a 2018 Ford pickup truck traveling south on Augusta Road struck the Jeep.
The two vehicles then collided with a 2018 Mitsubishi SUV and 2005 Honda sedan on Matrix Parkway.
According to troopers, the driver of the Ford was not injured. The drivers of the other three vehicles, along with three passengers in the Mitsubishi, were taken to the hospital.
According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, a rear-seat passenger in the Jeep was taken to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Emergency Department, where he later died from his injuries.
The corner identified the victim as 7-year-old Caius Zaire Blakley from Woodruff.
Spartanburg County School District Four confirmed Blakley was a student at Woodruff Primary School.
