Two arrested in Mississippi after children tested positive for controlled substances
On July 26, 2024, the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jimmy Brian Wallis (49) and Katie May Bishop (43) of Booneville.
Both Wallis and Bishop were indicted for two counts of Child Endangerment, for the results of children testing positive for controlled substances.
Both individuals were set bonds at $25,000.00 each. Investigator Torie Jumper is over the case. Deputy Ethan Hester assisted in the arrest.

Mississippi Highway Patrol investigates a three car crash
CLARKE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) -According to the Clarke County sheriff’s chancelor, a three-vehicle wreck happened on the northbound side of I-59 at mile marker 129.
He states the interstate was shut down for approximately 30 minutes.
Multiple people were transported to nearby hospitals to be checked out.
Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Brandon, Mississippi man found dead in the Ross R. Barnett Reservoir
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A man is dead after an unoccupied boat was spotted floating near the rocks at the tower on the upper Spillway.
Further investigation found the operator of the boat, Steve Cermak, 62, in the water dead.
According to police at the scene, after Cermak was pulled from the water, an external examination showed there were no signs of physical trauma from the boat.
According to Reservoir Police, there were clear signs Cermak had suffered from a medical event before falling into the water.
There were no signs at the scene of alcohol being involved.
