Heat advisory extended for Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe counties

MIAMI – A heat advisory Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe, which was supposed to end at 8 p.m. Thursday, has been extended to 8 p.m. Friday.

Afternoon temperatures will be in the low 90s. However, combined with the humidity, the heat indices could reach up to 110 degrees on Thursday and Friday.

A heat advisory is issued by the National Weather Service when a heat index of 105 degrees or higher is expected for at least two hours in Miami-Dade. That is below Broward and the Florida Key’s heat index of 107 degrees for two hours.

Overnight temperatures will offer little relief. Lows will struggle to make it out of the 80s near the coast and the “feels like” temp will remain above 90 degrees for much of the night, according to the National Weather Service.

People are urged to drink plenty of fluids, but avoid those that contain caffeine, high sugar content, and alcohol. Stay in an air-conditioned room, limit the time you work or spend time outdoors during the hottest part of the day, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Wear clothing that is lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting. If you’re outside, wear a hat and sunscreen to protect your face and scalp from harmful UV rays.

If you must be outdoors, slow down, take breaks in a shaded or cool area, and drink cool fluids every hour.

If you feel lightheaded, confused, weak, or faint, seek medical attention immediately by calling 911.

For dog owners wanting to take their four-legged friends for a walk, it’s important to remember the seven-second rule. Place your hand on the concrete for seven seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pet too.

Man arrested for breaking into job at Miami Beach brewery and stealing hundreds of dollars

A man is in jail after police say he broke into a Miami Beach business where he worked and stole hundreds of dollars. But that’s not all police say he did while he was inside.

Brooks Vanderbush, the sales manager at South Beach Brewing Company, said someone they trusted and welcomed in went behind their back.

“He seemed like a really decent guy,” Vanderbush said.

On Sunday, Vanderbush said he got a text that their chef, Alfredo Julien, was acting strange and then left.

“He was a chef on Sunday, and for some reason, mid-shift in the middle of making a sandwich, took that sandwich and walked out,” he said.

Vanderbush said they didn’t know at the time, but before Julien left, he stole the key to get inside the business. When they were able to get in on Monday, they noticed someone had ransacked the place, and the cash register was gone, along with, according to an arrest report, $500.

They checked out the surveillance cameras, and sure enough, Vanderbush said they saw their employee getting comfortable.

“He took a bottle of wine, drank about half of it,” Vanderbush said. “He wandered around, made food and took a short nap on the couch, and inspiration from a dream, he said I’m going to rob the place and that’s what he did, he started tearing stuff apart.”

According to the arrest report, Julien is homeless. He was arrested later that day, and officers picked him up on a warrant in Miami-Dade County for petit theft.

“It’s heartbreaking, you work so hard to make a place work, and this happens, and then some of these details came out, and everything was OK, then it started to become comedic, what is this guy doing?” Vanderbush said.

Vanderbush said they’ve already moved forward.

“I just don’t know what made him do that,” Vanderbush said. “I hope that whatever is going on in his life gets repaired. We all forgive him, but you can’t forget.”

Tommy Paul’s Fiancée Paige Lorenze Stuns in Pink Crop Top at Miami Open

Tommy Paul’s Fiancée Paige Lorenze Stuns in Pink Crop Top at Miami Open

There have been some surprising results to this point at the Miami Open. Perhaps the most surprising of all was when world No. 1-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz suffered a defeat to Sebastian Korda of the United States in the Round of 32.

While the clear favorite to win is Italy’s Jannik Sinner, Alcaraz bowing out of the tournament earlier than anticipated means that the playing field is much more open than it often is in these tournaments. It also means that American tennis stars like 28-year-old Tommy Paul have an opportunity to make a major splash in Miami.

Paul (who is currently the world’s No. 23-ranked player, according to the ATP) secured a victory in straight sets against Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry on March 24. This means he’s set up to face France’s Arthur Fils in the Quarterfinal.

Tommy Paul is trying to build off perhaps the best professional year of his career in 2025. He became the first American man in 23 years to reach the quarterfinals of the Paris Open before losing to Alcaraz, but this successful tournament vaulted him all the way up to No. 8 in the world rankings at the time.

What’s for certain is that Paul has the unconditional support of Paige Lorenze, his influencer and entrepreneur, who is best known for the lifestyle brand Dairy Boy.

The couple has been dating since 2022, and Paul has made many appearances on Lorenze’s social media channels. Paul and Lorenze were engaged in July of 2025, and she is constantly seen on tour with him.

Tommy Paul’s Fiancée Paige Lorenze Turns Heads in Bold Pink Miami Open Outfit

Lorenze is with Paul at the Miami Open right now. And an outfit she wore earlier in the week is causing quite a stir.

Lorenze made a March 21 Instagram post that showed her in a pink and yellow crop top outfit with matching pants while at the Miami Open. The post was captioned, “🩵🌴🎾🌸,” which appears to be a nod to the floral color scheme and the general vibe of the Miami Open.

It’s a good thing that this outfit didn’t take Tommy Paul’s attention away from the court while he was trying to make it to the quarterfinals.

All eyes will be on Paul to see whether he can secure a victory over Arthur Fils on March 25 to cement what could be a good start to the 2026 campaign. Lorenze will be rooting him on.
