Game Day Guide: Stars vs Wild | Dallas Stars
First Shift π
The Stars have a history of bouncing back quickly in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
In the past three seasons, Dallas is 14-1 after a loss in the first two rounds, and thatβs a big reason it has made it to the Western Conference Final for three consecutive seasons.
βItβs just the guys knowing how to park it,β said Stars goalie Jake Oettinger. βI think weβve done it enough, so itβs just part of who we are.β
Dallas has been a great response team for years. Former Stars forward Joe Pavelski pushed to not have consecutive losses at any point during the regular season, and that built a way of playing. Current players have carried that tradition and pushed for a mix of calm and intensity after a loss.
βWeβve been doing it as a group all year long,β said captain Jamie Benn. βOur group has been through a lot the last couple of years, so we have some good memories.β
The one time they lost two consecutive games, they still bounced back from an 0-2 hole to beat Vegas in seven games. Other than that, the team and Oettinger have come up with an answer quickly.
βJust play better, do more,β said defenseman Esa Lindell when asked how the team could improve after an overtime loss. βI thought we played pretty well, but we can be better.β
The Stars said they felt good about their effort in Game 4 β a 3-2 overtime loss. They had a 45-43 advantage in shots on goal, an 84-83 edge in shot attempts and a 32-29 advantage in faceoffs. Dallas scored twice on the power play and Minnesota scored three at even strength, and that is an area that will be studied.
But forwardΒ Rantanen said he was encouraged by his teamβs chances.
βWe just have to stick with it,β Rantanen said. βBoth teams can defend, both teams can play offense. We need to find a couple of bounces in the 5-on-5 game and go to the net and get lucky.β
DefensemanΒ Heiskanen said he felt good about Game 4.
βWe played a solid game and could have won,β he said. βI think we played well 5-on-5, we just didnβt score. If we play the same way, it will come at some point.β
Dallas coach Glen Gulutzan echoed those sentiments. He will have to shuffle his defense pairs because Nils Lundkvist suffered a facial laceration in Game 4 and will not play Tuesday. However, when asked about making changes in his forward group, Gulutzan said among the options is keeping the lineup the same.
βSometimes, success lags behind the good things youβre doing,β Gulutzan said. βRight now, we just have to keep doing things and take the next steps and hopefully weβll get success.β
Trade deadline acquisition Michael Bunting has yet to play in the playoffs and veteran Adam Erne came out after Game 1, so they are eligible replacements. But it would be tough to take out a player like Colin Blackwell, Oskar BΓ€ckΒ or Arttu Hyry, because they have been playing well.
βWhen you look at all the metrics, we just need to take the next step. We just need to get to loose pucks, get some tips, that kind of thing. Everything else is there. But there is another step to it, something harder,β Gulutzan said. βWe like where we are. There are certainly things we can do to create more offense, go to the net a little better and get to the tougher areas. Right now, youβre down to the last little tightening of the screws. After four games, teams know each other pretty good, so it becomes a little bit of a battle of wills.β
Minnesota understands. It battled back from a 2-1 deficit in the third period and then won in overtime in Game 4.
βWeβve been in a 2-2 series before, and weβve got to play a really, really good, smart, detailed game in Dallas,β Wild forward Marcus Foligno told reporters in Minnesota on Monday. βI think the momentum of the game is something that we have to learn to control in Dallas, so all eyes are just on Game 5. I mean, you canβt look at Game 6 or 7, itβs got to be just, how can we win in Dallas for one game?β
The Stars have the same attitude. Itβs worked in the past.
βYou just move on and get to the next one,β said defensemanΒ Heiskanen.
That easy?
βYeah. That easy,β he said.

TimothΓ©e Chalamet βStarstruckβ by Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders

Card-carrying SAG member TimothΓ©e Chalamet was βstarstruckβ to meet the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders β doubtless due to their impressive collective bargaining skills, as depicted in docuseries Americaβs Sweethearts. Or because theyβre classic Americana, either way. The Cheerleaders and Anna Kate Sundvold posted a video of Chalamet meeting the group and expressing his starstruckedness. βImagine when he finds out that every single one of these dancers trained in balletβ¦β one commenter wryly snarked.
Chalamet was in Dallas for the FIFA World Cup, watching the France vs. Spain game. He wore a France jacket to the event, eliciting cheers and boos at Dallas Stadium in equal measure according to People. So Mr. Knicks met the cheerleaders for Americaβs football team at a fΓΊtbol match? Is there a single sport this guy isnβt stumping for? We eagerly await learning Timmyβs favorites in hockey, lacrosse, and individualized synchronized swimming (itβs real, look it up).

5 teens hurt after police chase ends in crash
Five teenagers were hurt after a crime spree ended in a crash. Police say they found multiple handguns inside the vehicle after the crash, and all five teens were taken to the hospital.
DALLAS – Five teenagers were hospitalized late Tuesday night after crashing a carjacked sedan into a traffic light pole during a brief police chase, Dallas authorities said.
Carjacking and crash
What we know:
The incident began at 10:37 p.m. in Old East Dallas, where a man was carjacked at gunpoint by a group of armed juvenile suspects in the 4500 block of Live Oak Street, according to Dallas Police Department records. The suspects left the scene in the victimβs white Honda sedan.
Just before 11 p.m., a Flock license plate recognition camera flagged the stolen vehicle at an apartment complex in the 9400 block of Bruton Road in Pleasant Grove.
Responding patrol officers spotted the Honda traveling west on Bruton Road near South Buckner Boulevard. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver accelerated and sped off, initiating a pursuit.
The chase came to a violent end at 11:02 p.m. at the intersection of Bruton Road and Second Avenue. Police said the driver lost control of the sedan and slammed directly into a steel traffic signal support pole.
Officers found five teenagers inside the heavily damaged vehicle. Dallas Fire-Rescue paramedics took all five suspects to local hospitals. Police said some of the teenagers suffered serious injuries, but all are expected to survive.
Investigators recovered multiple handguns from inside the crashed vehicle.
What’s next:
Detectives from the Dallas Police Departmentβs robbery and vehicular crimes units, alongside crime scene investigators and patrol officers, are continuing to investigate the incident. Charges against the juveniles are pending.
