The Cowboys return to AT&T Stadium to face the NY Giants on Sunday, beginning a stretch of four home games in the next five. The Giants are starting rookie Tommy DeVito, the 10th rookie QB to start an NFL game in 2023. The game also features a matchup of running backs (Tony Pollard, Saquon Barkley) who received the franchise tag in the offseason.

It’s Tommy DeVito time, and that’s not great for the New York Football Giants. He was supposed to be a third-stringer this year, but the Giants have had even more than their usual woes, and it’s hard to see how they move the ball with any rhythm in AT&T Stadium. The Cowboys have beaten better teams by more than 20 points in that setting, and this feels like revenge for last week with Dallas taking advantage of all the opportunities an overmatched team provides.

Funny things can happen on a football field, so the Cowboys aren’t guaranteed to waltz. See: Week 3 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. See: four-point win over the Houston Texans last December. But the veteran experience Dallas has on the offensive line and at quarterback should allow it to overcome maybe the Giants’ greatest strengths, which are their defensive line and elaborate blitz packages.

The Cowboys’ 40-0 blowout victory in New York to open the season sent the Giants into a tailspin from which they have not recovered. Expect this game to be more of the same as several factors line up in Dallas’ favor: coming off a loss, at home, against a rookie quarterback. Tommy DeVito gets the nod for New York, and Dan Quinn’s defense will feast, possibly even putting more points on the board.

Dallas destroyed New York 40-0 to open the season. What do the Cowboys do for an encore? Not lose. The Giants are in a bad way these days, but another blowout of these proportions is unrealistic. Human nature seduces Dallas players into believing they can stumble or don’t have to be at their best to win this game. That’s true, but no team can afford to indulge that thinking for long. The home winning streak should extend to a league-high 12 games.

Nothing like the Giants on your schedule to fix whatever ails you. When they come out of the upcoming four-game stretch against the Giants, Panthers, Commanders and Seahawks, the Cowboys should be 9-3 and ready for the rematch against the Eagles. By then, they’d better have their running game in order, because they can’t keep putting the game on Dak Prescott’s shoulders.

A rookie quarterback, a team going nowhere and a rematch from a 40-0 Dallas victory in Week 1. Everything seems to align for the Cowboys against the Giants on Sunday. Dallas should win easily. It would be nice to see the team find a rhythm to the running attack, something that’s eluded them at times this season. It should happen quickly and often in another blowout win.
