Dallas councilman wants more officers in Richardson ISD schools after Uvalde

Dallas Councilman Adam McGough needs extra officers in colleges, significantly in Richardson ISD, as a part of stepped-up safety efforts in response to the Uvalde mass capturing.
McGough, the chair of the Public Security Committee, despatched a memorandum to Metropolis Supervisor T.C. Broadnax and Richardson interim superintendent Tabitha Branum on Monday, asking for “motion and collaboration” on a slew of issues of safety.
“It’s time for motion,” McGough wrote. “We can not settle for the ache and concern that permeates our communities with the infiltration of violence and evil in our colleges. … Public security is the highest precedence for our metropolis, and to be the most secure massive metropolis within the nation, we should begin by guaranteeing that our colleges are secure.”
In lots of elements of the state, metropolis and faculty district boundaries don’t match up. That’s the case in Dallas — the place campuses within the Richardson, Carrollton-Farmers Department and Duncanville college districts lay inside the metropolis limits.

McGough — whose District 10 seat represents Northeast Dallas, together with the southern half of RISD — stated Tuesday that he has labored intently with the district since elected in 2015, collaborating with the district to create its present SRO program.
SROs are sworn legislation enforcement officers who work on a campus, sometimes employed by a college district, native police or sheriff’s division.
RISD has 9 full-time SROs in its Dallas secondary colleges with 12 part-time SROs assigned to elementary campuses. As of 2020, town of Dallas paid for 2 of the full-time SROs, funding that McGough fought to maintain throughout funds cuts.
For colleges within the metropolis limits of Richardson, the district works with the Richardson Police Division to supply safety.
A sturdy SRO program, McGough wrote in his memo, permits for higher collaboration between all the native entities which have “some cross-over tasks” referring to public and scholar security, together with Dallas County, Dallas Faculty, DART police and native police departments.
McGough stated a current dialog after the Uvalde mass capturing with a former Dallas Police Division officer impressed him to begin asking extra questions concerning the potential improvement of a college district-specific drive.

Dallas Fire-Rescue crews are searching for two people who were swept into a creek near Mountain Creek Lake.
Jason Evans, DFR spokesperson, said crews were called at about 1:40 p.m. Saturday after a 911 call reported someone was swept into the water near the 4500 block of Mountain Creek Parkway, Evans said.
Evans said reports indicate one person was swept into the creek while a second person jumped into the creek to save them before being swept away themself.
DFR, Dallas police and game wardens are investigating, Evans said.
Any team that is coached by Mike Tomlin is going to be ready to play on any given Sunday. Such was the case for the 2023 Steelers who finished 10-7 and made it to the playoffs once again. Tomlin has never had a losing season during his tenure in Pittsburgh and the team has built a reputation for being a tough, well-coached football team under his watch.

Watt has the ability to completely change the momentum of a game and if the Cowboys don’t come prepared, he’s going to be a game-wrecker once again. Whether it’s by keeping a running back in or chipping him with a tight end, the Cowboys are going to have to maneuver their offense around where Watt is in order to limit his impact.

With the shakiness that is the Dallas Cowboys secondary George Pickens has a chance to make a massive impact on Sunday night. The Cowboys are battling injury issues at corner so they will be undermanned even if it is just DaRon Bland who misses the game.
Pickens, a dynamic pass catcher out of Georgia, is rounding into form as one of the games best receivers. Trevon Diggs will travel some, but Mike Zimmer doesn’t ask him to do it all the time, setting up a situation where Pickens can find a favorable matchup against other cornerbacks the Cowboys trot out there.
Last week he went off for over 100 yards receiving. If the Cowboys aren’t careful and don’t have a plan for it, they could see Pickens do something like that once again.
