Cowboys practice squad tracker: Which players could end up in Dallas after roster trim?

The 53-man roster deadline has officially passed, meaning it’s time for the Dallas Cowboys to put together a practice squad.

Who could end up in this year’s group? Some of the team’s notable 2024 roster cuts include running back Malik Davis, defensive tackle Justin Rogers and offensive tackle Josh Ball. To join NFL practice squads, a few younger players must clear waivers first.

Here’s a look at the players who could end up on Dallas’ practice squad:

– The Cowboys worked out veteran running back Dalvin Cook on Tuesday. If he were to sign in Dallas, it would be to the practice squad.

– Defensive end Carl Lawson was a surprise cut Tuesday. If he signs to the practice squad, it’s good to have a veteran waiting to play, The Dallas Morning News’ Calvin Watkins wrote.

Other moves

– The Cowboys traded tight end Peyton Hendershot to the Kansas City Chiefs just before the cut deadline. Dallas will receive a conditional seventh-round draft pick for Hendershot, rather than leave him available for a team to potentially claim for free had he been waived.

– Offensive tackle Nathan Thomas, a 2024 seventh-round pick, was placed on the reserve/injured list.

– Cornerback DaRon Bland was placed on the reserve/injured-designated to return after sustaining a stress fracture in his foot. He is currently projected to be out six to eight weeks.

– The Cowboys officially signed nose tackle Linval Joseph.

– CeeDee Lamb was placed on the reserve/commissioner exempt. He recently agreed to a new extension with the team. Once Chuma Edoga is placed on IR, Lamb will get moved to the active roster.
