Ex-Martha's Vineyard Fire Chief Filmed Sex Acts Without Consent: DA

MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MA — A former Martha’s Vineyard fire chief is being held without bail after it was alleged he filmed a person during a sexual encounter without their consent.

John Rose, 53, of Martha’s Vineyard, was arrested on Saturday and is charged with photographing, videotaping or electronically surveilling a partially nude or nude person.

On Dec. 14, 2023, it was reported to the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office that Rose possessed a video recording of a person performing sexual acts on him, and that this was done without this person’s consent.

An investigation by that department led to Rose’s arrest over the weekend.
