Special Weather Statement Issued For Southern Connecticut
SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for southern Connecticut on Wednesday evening.
“Patchy dense fog has redeveloped across southern Connecticut, with visibilities a quarter mile or less,” the weather service said. “If you are traveling be prepared for changing visibilities. Slow down, all extra extra distance between you and the vehicle in front of you, and use your low beams. The dense fog may become more widespread this evening, and a dense fog advisory may be issued.”

Tonight: Rain. Widespread dense fog. Temperature falling to near 39 by 8pm, then rising to around 44 during the remainder of the night. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Thursday: Rain likely, mainly before 10am. Widespread fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 50. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Thursday Night: Rain, mainly after 1am. Widespread fog. Low around 38. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday: Rain likely, mainly before 1pm. Widespread fog, mainly before 1pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 49. Northeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 47.
Saturday Night: A 50 percent chance of rain after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 35.
Sunday: Rain. High near 40. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

5 Connecticut towns to receive $2M each for infrastructure upgrades
HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Five Connecticut towns will collectively receive $10 million in grants for infrastructure upgrades, according to a Monday announcement by Gov. Ned Lamont.
The Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) is awarding $10.7 million to Coventry, Guilford, Ledyard, Mansfield and Thomaston to modernize and rehabilitate housing for low- and moderate-income residents, the announcement said.
The funds are being released through the DOH’s Community Development Block Grant’s small cities program, with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. To be eligible, a municipality must have fewer than 50,000 residents.
Cost Breakdown
Coventry: $2 million
Town of Coventry plans to use funds to upgrade, with a focus on making Orchard Hill Estates compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Guilford: $2 million
The Town of Guilford plans to use funds to design and build future affordable housing projects, consisting of up to 16 rental units and 8 homes.
Ledyard: $2 million
The Town of Canton requested funding for the first phase of affordable housing for people in Ledyard and the surrounding area. Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut is in the pre-development phase of the Colby Drive and plans to create 38 units.
Mansfield: $2.2 million
Funding will be used for upgrades to Wright’s Village, including roof replacements and sidewalk repairs.
Thomaston: $2.5 million
Funds will be used to make Green Manor ADA-compliant, including the installation of a new emergency call aid system.
